The guys at Phonemag have managed to get their hands on the latest HTC handset the HTC Touch Pro, they have quite a few images and a great video showing off the device. They met HTC at an informal get together to take a look over the device. For those that don't know, the HTC Touch Pro is similar to the HTC Diamond with a few changes mainly a slide out Qwerty keyboard and expandable storage.
According to the Opera Mobile Blog, we should see the first beta release of Opera Mobile 9.5 for Windows Mobile in mid July. To quote the blog, "We have some exciting news to share today. It's almost time to release Opera Mobile 9.5 for Windows Mobile to the world. We thank you for your patience and support as we make what we (and many others) believe is the best browser for mobile phones."
Mobile Tech Addicts Review Dashwire: Interacting with a Windows Mobile device can be tricky, especially when it comes to managing all your bits and pieces on a small screen. Dashwire provides a simple and intuitive way of viewing and editing your phones content from any computer.
Mobile Tech Addicts review the Samsung SGH i780, This is a Windows Mobile Professional touch screen device with a front facing Qwerty keyboard and a square screen. The major difference with this and other square screen devices is the screen resolution. All previous square screen devices we have seen followed the 240 x 240 resolution but this phone has a 320 x 320 display which makes for a much better viewing experience.
Mobile Tech Addicts have just completed a review of the Glofiish M810 Windows Mobile Professional device, and its definitely a device of two parts, there is the hardware part and the software part and the two unfortunately are miles apart.
According to COMPUSA's website they have the HTC Diamond for sale with all US network bands available. Yes that's right HSDPA 850 / 1900 and GSM 850. HTC Touch Diamond Unlocked GSM Smartphone - 2.8" Touch Screen, Quad-Band, 4GB Internal Storage, 3 Megapixel Camera, GPS, A2DP
The guys over at MobiFrance managed to get some hands on time with the new Samsung Windows Mobile Omnia i900 professional device
Our very own moderator and podcaster Mickey Papillon of The Cellphone Junkie was lucky enough to receive an HTC Diamond for review and unfortunately it looks like he validates what we have been saying. He experienced almost 9+ soft resets in just one day and has been twittering his experiences.
I just received this via email and wasn't too shocked !! Looks like HTC is holding all distribution channels and have delayed the Diamond until June 23rd! According to Devicewire's website.
As per my initial review of the HTC Diamond I clearly noted there were some significant issues with the HTC Diamond sporting the new TouchFlow today screen.
I just spoke with my contact who represents Velocity Mobile and was given some news. As many of you already know they announced two very slick looking devices the 103 and the 111. From what I am told due to some manufacturing delays (parts related stuff) the 103 will be delayed into Q3. I know this might be very disappointing but going back to what we are complaining about with the Diamond I would rather they take their time and get the product out clean.
In this video we will go over three issues so far we have experienced after using the phone for 2 days. Some of these I note in this video are small but I certainly think HTC should have addressed them prior to launch. What are your thoughts?
HTC today unveiled its advanced next generation business phone, the HTC Touch Pro bringing a beautiful new angle to mobile business productivity
This morning during my trip into NYC I decided to bring my Diamond with me. One of the questions many of you have asked me was how is the screen in sunlight? Well for those who know I was at Penn Station waiting for a taxi and was standing in the sun. I immediately grabbed my Touch Dual and took this picture of the Diamond. Hands down the screeen is stunning! I would say it is definitely competitive to the iPhone
Anyone that knows me knows I really hate onscreen keyboard (except the iphone). Well I never saw how big the keyboard is on the Diamond but to tell you the truth this looks fantastic! The buttons look quite large and extremely responsive. I am shocked that no one yet has pointed this out? What are your thoughts?
A group of bloggers locked a HTC representative in a room and forced him to put the device through some awkward situations. You have to watch this to understand that this device is made extremely different than any other HTC device on the market today.
I was watching Leigh over at CoolSmartphone do his daily diary of his pre-production HTC Diamond and I noticed something extremely strange. The phone actually does show the 850Mhz band? Could this be something that can be unlocked via registry hack? All I can say is why in the world would they show the 850Mhz band if it did not support it?
Mobile Phone Helpdesk have an exclusive as today T-Mobile announced three new MDA devices in Munchen, Germany. T-Mobile will soon come to the market with the MDA Compact IV, the MDA Vario IV and the T-Mobile Ameo 16 gigabyte
Sony Ericcson has released a white paper detailing the specifications of the much anticipated Xperia X1 Windows Mobile Professional handset which is due for release later this year
This video is fantastic where John Wang Chief Marketing Officer for HTC goes over some hidden innovations that you might not have heard about the HTC Diamond. Some of these are extremely interesting features that makes you think and say "Why didnt Microsoft think of this?>
Well that was really quick.. A member over at XDA Developers once again has nicely uploaded the 100mb ROM for the HTC Diamond. The ROM is HTC Diamond - stock - 1.34.831.1 - ROM - WWE and has just been uploaded an hour ago. So for those who are interested in checking this ROM out make sure you checkout the below link..
For those who are contemplating buying a unlocked HTC Diamond for use in the USA might want to rethink their choice. What I am speaking about is the fact that the unlocked European unit being sold does not support the 850Mhz band for US carriers. That basically means your voice calls will have significantly less coverage on any USA GSM carrier..
I had to do this since I have jumped the bandwagon and pre ordered my HTC Diamond and will also order the 3G Iphone when it is available. So why not do a size comparison? Here you can see the differences in size. Either way I am pretty excited about getting the HTC Diamond..
Its amazing what goes on over at XDA-Developers but somehow one of the members got the keyboard application for the YET to be released Diamond extracted.. So once again I wonder how these things get slipped out but who cares go and grab your copy
Looks like the HTC Diamond has a docking station that will charge a bluetooth headset and the Diamond itself. If you are familiar with the iPhone dock one would wonder if the charging status will appear on the face of the Diamond? Your thoughts?
Oh boy.. Once I get excited about a Windows Mobile device I start to research the device in YouTube and once again I am finding a bunch of videos of the Diamond Locking up!! I spent 5 minutes looking and already found these videos!
I was sent this promo video link about Microsoft Mesh and what you will notice is a variation of a Windows Mobile OS in the video.. At 32 seconds into the video a HTC Touch Dual is shown and what looks like that it's running a different operating system - Windows Mobile 7. Unfortunately you really get one or two seconds to see it but the image clearly shows something we have seen in other Windows Mobile 7 mockups, like the new GUI and the Vista star menu (located in the softkey area) that replaces the old Start Menu.. What are your thoughts?
Tracy and Matt are up to it again and got their hands on the new HTC Diamond. My first thoughts are that it still looks a bit buggy but HTC basically skinned WM 6.1 and hopefully it will run fluid. This video shows you it that it still has those pregnant pauses we hate..
Oh boy I really feel sorry for Sony Ericcson as they are not used to how buggy Windows Mobile really can be. Not only buggie but take a look at how slow the device runs! Also take a look at the battery gauge.. (UGHHHH).. You will also hear at the end she states that it probably will NOT get the new flash/silverlight browser for launch (was that a shock?)
My good friend Dieter over at WMExperts takes you through an uncanned demo of the newly announced Windws Mobile 6.1.. Dieter always does a great job so I know he won't sugar coat the demo!!
A British smartphone maker is aiming to make a name for itself with the launch today of two 3.5G Windows Mobile 6.0-based handsets, the Velocity Mobile 103 and Velocity 111.
The Gigabyte GSmart MS808 handset which is a 3G Windows Mobile 6.1 one at that seems to be pretty nice.. Could it actually compete against the iPhone? Not in the USA though.. Sigh...
Samsung has partnered with U.S. CDMA carrier Sprint to launch the new SPH-i325 Ace, a dual-mode CDMA/GSM smartphone that borrows some styling cues from Samsung's SGH-i320 from 2 years back. The Ace combines the best of both worlds with EV-DO capable CDMA coverage in the U.S. on Sprint's network and a SIM card slot for GPRS/GSM use when traveling abroad to make the handheld a true world phone.
Terminal.hu posted pictures of the Sony Ericsson Experia X1 which now validates the fact that it does run the yet to be announced Windows Mobile 6.1. Looks like Microsoft wanted to keep this hush hush since Windows Mobile 6.1 has so many enhancements (Lol joking). This shows you that in order for you to notice the difference you have to go to the about page to see the version of the OS! Ugh....
Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) Monday it agreed to buy Danger Inc., a company which produces software and services for consumer handsets.
Yesterday the cat peeked his head out of the hat when Sony Ericsson announced a Windows Mobile phone surprising all. Unfortunately they also never told anyone that HTC made this phone which quite honestly bums me. Why?
Sony Ericsson will begin selling its first phone using Windows Mobile software this year, Microsoft was due to announce on Sunday, just ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Lucky for us we were able to get a conference call with Sony Ericsson yesterday to discuss..
Software giant Microsoft is in discussion with Nokia about plans to have the handset maker add Windows Mobile-powered devices to its portfolio.
Still in beta but I know many of those closet iPhone fans can now run a UI that looks really close to the iPhone! So now you can be a closet iPhone fan :)
I was sent this video from a member of the community which goes over the HTC Touch Dual. For me this doesnt cut it at all. The numeric keypad seems only functional to dial numbers.. What are your thoughts?
Maybe its me but why is it that Microsoft takes such SMALL steps in updates. BoyGenius (way to go!) shows us the goods. Looks like the crew at Mobius got trumped since they got to see it too but couldn't share (whats new!)... Either way this is probably one of the WORST updates I have ever seen. The GUI is in no way more functional whatsoever! What are your thoughts?
Over the past three weeks I have received numerous emails and phone calls of people asking me if I would buy the HTC TyTN II or the ATT Tilt. Luckily I have been granted a review unit from AT&T (thank you ATT you guys rock!). Placing the units side by side they are identical except for the front camera on the HTC TyTN.
Verizon Wireless is heading into the holidays with a roster of new personal digital assistants (PDAs) and smartphones that give customers exciting options for both business and personal connectivity. The first of the line-up, the SCH-i760 from Samsung, is available online October 19 and in stores November 2
A great forum member Sixftunda has been using the Samsung I-760 for Verizon. I am still trying to find out how he got his hands on one but he has done some EXTENSIVE R&D about this unit and from the looks of it, its a powerhouse!
Our sources are telling us that some new Windows Mobile devices are on their way! Just got a new update this morning, the AT&T 8925 aka Tilt is has passed certification and it being released on October 5.
We were lucky enough to get our hands on these photos of some of the new Fall lineup... As you can see the i760 is quite large compared to the photos we have seen on other sites. For example take a look at the width of the Tilt vs the i-760!! Huge difference in size!
What bothers me more is sites like Engadget linking to a photo and calling it the first pic of the AT&T 8925. What also is terrible is that they linked to an online retailer called Negri Electronics a site that has numerous times misinformed release dates and photos. This photo is obviously a doctored photo which we can say for CERTAIN it is not official.. We will be running the official pictures here on Mobility Today very soon..
Are you on Facebook? Do you use Outlook and Windows Mobile? If you answered yes and yes, get OutSync a free app to sync your Facebook friends' photos with Outlook!
I have to say the first week of using the HTC TyTN II has been pretty interesting. The unit is probably one of the most powerful Windows Mobile phones I have used to date other than the HTC Advantage. I am very happy with the lack of soft resets, something that has plagued me with the WM6 Treo 750 I was using. The TyTN II does have some quirky things that really tick me off. The unit will not accept the little brother HTC TyTN battery!
Engadget is reporting a that Sprint should be releasing some really cool devices in the the 4Q of 2007..What started as a trickle of unofficially official shots from Sprint's Q4 pipeline has suddenly become a deluge. Check the LG Rumor, Touch (aka, Vogue), and Blackberry Pearl 8130 all dressed up with Sprint logos and sales-goon positioning points for a Q4 launch.
I have to apologize for not posting sooner but I have been digging around with my new HTC TyTN II. First of all I love how this unit looks overall compared to its little brother the TyTN. I think HTC has done a fantastic job fixing the horror of a Today screen Microsoft created. The unit is probably one of the fastest Windows Mobile devices I have used other than my Advantage. I haven't had a TON of time with the unit but I have noticed some things I like and dislike. Please keep posted here as I will definitely write my review on this device along with videos and pictures.
Need I say more? Within the next 24 hours I should have it in my hands…. Wow… this is going to be fun!! Remember we don't just throw up our iniitial impressions but I will blog my first two weeks along with videos. Also note this device was not supplied to us
My good friends over at SlashGear had some hands on time with the LG KS20 at IFA 2007. Vincent has shot some exclusive video footage of the KS20 - which is rocking HSDPA high-speed cellular broadband, dual-cameras for video conferencing and full internet access - and as you can see they’ve adapted the WM6 OS to take on board some of the Prada’s UI niceness
Ok I figured this is the time to spill the beans. Do you want to hear what is coming down the pike? If so take a look at this. Now don't shoot me but I feel pretty confident I am close.. You know carriers and how they love to re-certify their devices.. So here ya go..
The Unwired is reporting that HTC Europe just released the next long awaited Windows Mobile 6 ROM upgrade for its current line of Windows Mobile Pocket PCs.
Well it looks like a major issue has plagued the HTC Advantage where HTC apparently shipped the wrong units for inventory to CompUSA. According to a review up on CompUSA"s site the user states, "My software said "test only, not for sale" each time the unit was turned on- which is the reason I called tech support. Turned out that all I had to do was update the software using my home computer.
IAnywhere Solutions has announced a partnership with High Tech Computer (HTC) that could help smart phones based on Windows Mobile compete more effectively with the BlackBerry, according to an iAnywhere executive.

I am not asking much but Microsoft really needs to get this guy working on Photon IMMEDIATELY. He sent me this link and quite honestly I was blown away. What are your thoughts?
I just received an email from my friends over at Microsoft telling me a new Live Search client has been released. You can get it by going to http://wls.live.com/ from your phone (or if you run the V1 version, you should get prompted to update.
Mike Chandler over at Howardforums has done a fantastic job reviewing the HTC Touch. He writes, "The touch is technically marketed as triband (900). After much debate, I decided to take the plunge and give it a go (based on the comments of negrielectric). It turns out the reception is wonderful, even in Arkansas, where no triband phone has ever worked for me.
For the past three weeks I have been trying to get in contact with David Smith from HTC and a follower of Mobility Today to see if we could get our hands on a review unit of the HTC Touch. Unfortunately today I was informed that HTC will no longer be supplying review units to us.. I would like to apologize, since I received 32 emails from readers of Mobility Today requesting my thoughts about the unit. I am very disappointed by Mr Smith's change in mind since he did commit to our community he would support us anyway possible

Looks like the guys over at The Boy Genius Report got their hands on the new T-Mobile Wing aka HTC P4350. Quite honestly I dont know how they get their hands on all this great stuff but be sure to checkout their great unboxing photos..
A computer science student and a developer at Microsoft Research have created a technique designed to make it easier to select items on a mobile-phone screen with a finger and not a tiny pointed stylus.
Ok I have to admit I am a Windows Mobile freak to put it lightly. Well you have to watch this new video from Microsoft showing the newest competitor to the iPhone called the OFone..

Thanks to our friends at HTC who gave us the headsup that TMobile will be releasing the WM6 upgrade for the TMobile Dash.. From our initial reports this upgrade is a fantastic and much needed update. One feature that Agent680 told me was when the user is on the phone they will get a broadcast message using voice command stating the callers name while you speak to the other party.
Microsoft envisions several years of "strong growth" for its Windows Mobile business and expects license sales of its mobile phone operating system to double in the next business year, Robbie Bach, its head of entertainment and devices, said on Tuesday
You have to be kidding me!!! Now everyone needs to realize that some people don't read manuals nor do they try to learn a Windows Mobile device. Check this video out and tell me if it doesn't make you laugh in pain! Last time I checked once a wireless network is found a little popup comes up and asks you to connect? Am I wrong? Did I miss something?
It seems as if HTC has slipped out and released the much anticipated Windows Mobile 6 upgrade roadmap; while this news isn't a surprise, it's always great to hear it straight from the manufacturer. Unfortunately we will have to wait till June to start seeing some sort of upgrades for our devices with US carriers. The list includes the HTC Advantage, HTC TyTn, HTC S620, HTC P3300, and the HTC 4350.
Here is a fantastic interview with David Smith VP Marketing of US for HTC. We have had David on our podcast previously and in this video you will see David go over the new devices announced at CTIA.

Not that we will probably ever see this in the USA especially at the $1,500 ridiculous pricetag.. Sources indicate the price of the device will be around $1500 USD. I don't think they will sell two of these at this price tag but.

Boy do we hate blurry photos and honestly we weren't going to run these but we know all you HTC geeks out there love it. You really can't see much in these photos since the person who took the picture was using a spotlight for a flash along with a terrible lense on the camera. BTW, for those looking to take spy shots let us know and we'll hook you up with a nice new digital camera that takes sharp and colorful pictures.
