Sprint last week announced the HTC Hero the $180 handset (with a rebate and two-year contract) will go on sale Oct. 11 at Sprint and Best Buy locations. Like the existing Android phones on the market, the Hero will have access to Android apps like ShopSavvy, Pandora and Flixster. So far this phone has so far blown us away with how much the platform and form factor shine. We will be doing many more videos on this as we take you through the entire OS.

HTC is following up on its ultra-sexy touchphone, the Touch Diamond, with the new Touch Diamond2, which seems quite worthy of the title of successor. This time around there's much more room for screen, with a huge 3.2-inch 480 x 800 LCD up front, and around back there's a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus. The other main addition is a "touch zoom bar" below the screen -- just like on big brother Touch Pro2 -- which we presume provides expected (and welcome) functionality.
Mobility Today was invited to the T-Mobile HTC G1- Google Android launch event early this morning and we got to test out the phone first hand. It is the world’s first Android-powered mobile phone in partnership with Google exclusively to T-Mobile customers . The T-Mobile G1 features a touch screen component in addition to a QWERTY keyboard (something I’m attached to) with popular Google applications like Google Maps Street View, Gmail, Youtube and my favorite Savy Shopper (watch video), all running on Google’s new mobile OS, Android. Pictures and more info to come…
As I have always said in my podcast that I am always open to change. On Sunday I took the plunge and figured I would try the highly anticipated ATT LG Vu featuring AT&T Mobile TV. If you aren't familiar with the ATT Mobile TV you can with just one touch see what’s on LIVE TV, scroll to find the next episode of your favorite show or select a time slot to reveal an episode summary of your next new favorite. The guide is simple and easy to use and is great for searching on the fly for Mobile TV to go. I was very skeptical since this is a brand new service for ATT but quite honestly I was blown away with the quality of the video. Hands down beats Verizon and Sprint in terms of quality and coverage.
When a sequel is better than the original, it's always cause for a grand entrance, and such is the case with the Samsung BlackJack II ($150 w/contract; end of 2007). This unit improves in nearly every way possible, the new BlackJack II features built-in GPS, AT&T Video Share, Tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and Quad-band EDGE/GPRS, an RSS reader, and the most important feature better battery life, Windows Mobile 6, and a host of other improvements. This is just the first of a few follow-ups of my experience with the BlackJack II which I will add onto during my use.

This week at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show Sprint announced the availability of the new Motorola Q. Lucky for us we were able to get our hands on a unit and quite honestly are very happy with it! Previously we were very unhappy with the poor battery life and unstable operating system Verizon released on their network. Last month Verizon rushed the new ROM out to address all the problems they continually denied. Well Sprint did the right thing and waited for all the dust to settle and released a solid performer on a fantastic network.
I have been lucky enough to have my hands on the newly announced T-Mobile Dash Windows Mobile Smartphone for the past 8 weeks. This smartphone is definitely a Motorola Q killer. Sporting a 320-by-240-pixel display a 201 MHz OMAP850 processor from TI, 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE along with 802.11b/g.. During this overview I will go over the physical characteristics along with end user experiences.
UPDATE: A few weeks back at CeBit we saw a first glimpse of the soon to be released I-Mate Smart Flip. Well during the next few weeks I will go over my first impressions of this facinating smartphone. The unit I have is a preproduction unit so I will not be going over the out of the box experience. Users should also note this is not a branded phone so specs can definitely change depending on the OEM. This clamshell phone runs Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphone edition long with being th first clamshell model made by HTC. How can one not notice the RAZOR look and feel that draws you towards this phone.
While attending the MVP Summit at Microsoft this past fall, I was amazed at the number of Microsoft folks using smartphones. I was expecting to see folks using the latest and greatest Pocket PC phones but rather, the use of a Smartphone appeared to be the device of choice. Why was that I wondered?
I always would look at news items on Smartphones but none seemed to have any attraction to me until I saw that Cingular was introducing their Cingular 2125 Smartphone in the U.S. What initially intrigued me was that the Cingular 2125 was the first Smartphone-class handset in the U.S. to feature the new Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system.
The Nokia N-90 provides you with a different kind of experience in using a mobile phone. It is not the same experience that you have been used to with mobile phones in the past and it is definitely not the same experience that you get with phones of the present. This is truly an experience that keeps you connected to the folks you want to be with, an experience that will provide for you the entertainment you enjoy so much and an experience that continuously supplies you with the daily information you can't be without. This is the Nokia Experience!
