Special thanks to Guss from Arizona for letting us know that this wonderful site exists and is relatively iPAQ friendly! You are in for quite a treat as you browse this site!
As I was browsing the forums, I followed a link given to us by Guss. For two hours I looked at pictures and mpeg videos that were absolutely spectacular! For the most part, the site formatted nicely but I found it easier to use the desktop view to get the best effect . Regardless of your viewing choice, the pictures and videos are well worth looking at. There were some features that I could not access on my iPAQ but because I enjoyed the site so much, it was enough to make me leave the coffee shop and go home to start my PC and view what I was not able to on my iPAQ.
The site is divided into several areas: NEWS | GALLERY | DISCOVERIES | SCI-TECH | FUN | REFERENCE
NEWS: NewsCenter is the complete collection of every Hubble Space Telescope news release and its supporting materials, along with tools and resources designed to further your knowledge of astronomy.
GALLERY: A pictorial "tour" of our universe through Hubble's eye, the Gallery presents myriad stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae, and strange celestial phenomena in full color and exquisite detail. Look no further for the best that Hubble has to offer.
DISCOVERIES: Explore Hubble's fascinating discoveries through pictures, videos, and stories describing our universe's past, present... and future.
SCI-TECH: How does the Hubble Space Telescope "take" pictures? How are its targets selected? Who tells it what to do and when to do it? Learn about the inner workings of the telescope in Sci-Tech
FUN: Looking for something cool to do? Make the universe your celestial playground in Fun & Games.
REFERENCE: Want just the facts? Whether you're doing research for an assignment or are simply curious about one or more aspects of Hubble and its capabilities, you'll find easy access to the basics in the Reference Desk.
This is a fun site, although the features you are unable to get on your iPAQ make it a little frustrating but there is a lot to view and learn. Be careful though...you can get lost in time!
