The Essence of Coolness - SCOTTeVEST

Innovative - Durable - Stylish - Downright COOL!

When my SCOTTeVEST Classic Vest arrived I was anxious to open the package, after all, I now was about to wear a vest that is the essence of "coolness". That's right-coolness!

Besides being the most unique garment made for the gadget freak, the SCOTTeVEST is made from a high quality fabric that has an expensive cotton blend with a unique stretch quality to it. I was immediately impressed with my vest as I removed it from its packaging.

As soon as I ran my hand over the material, I knew I had a "keeper". It had a very definite feel of quality; somehow you just know that the material is going to last and maintain that great look!

Immediately I had to discover the pockets beyond those few that were obvious. It was clearly going to be a challenge because they are so well hidden from the unsuspecting viewer.

Looking at the front of the vest there are the two "hand warmer" pockets typically seen on any jacket. Hidden along the seams in the chest area are two pockets neatly embedded with two zippers tucked invisibly inside under the seam and just below the front pockets, neatly hidden under a flap are two additional pockets.

Each pocket has a zipper to enable you "lock up" each compartment for that extra sense of security. The zippers have fine mesh teeth and metal pulls for durability. The front zipper is a little more robust with a real heavy duty pull. There was a little touch of class with a rubberized SCOTTeVEST logo attached to the front zipper. The hand pockets have cloth tags attached so you can find the zipper easily.

In the back is a rather large pocket, again hidden under a flap, which you could store magazines or even a laptop if you were so inclined. This would be an excellent location for a water bladder if you were walking a great distance.

I tried the Sport version but after a while I gave up. I liked the concept, but it was too hot to wear in the summer; it weighed a lot and the weight in the various pockets made it feel very odd to wear, it just hung down; the weights in the pocket made the lower pockets swing outward whenever I turned around so I was frequently slamming my lower pockets into door jambs and other people;

but the main problem was that you get tired of always wearing the same jacket no matter the weather. At one point I started wearing it over another jacket when it was really cold, but then I realized how stupid that looked and I gave up. The search continues.

Also, while a great idea, the loops for holding headphones and cellphone ear pieces don't work very well -- they need some sort of auto-retraction, otherwise they're always just flopping around and getting in the way.
Jack great revew. I have owned one for a few years now and it is great for traveling. It looks like a regular jacket and nobody knows what you are carrying. If it is a little warm unzip the sleeves and you have a nice vest. It is durable and very well made.
You state that it has the logo in several places, advertising what you have or might have.Thieves will see the logos and they are not always dumb. I think its to much advertising. I to liked the Dockers with the pockets, very casual. I will be fair and wait to see one before I rip/praise it. I would like to see the leather one. also is it cool (comfort) to wear indoors or would you need to shed it and worry about it like a expensive camera at your side. Maybe I just hung out to much in downtown Chicago
It's great... but isn't it heavy? Carry all those stuff around...
kinda like outfits for covert operators. I liked the Dockers with hidden pockets. If you have a 6315 why do you need more unless you want to pack a fax machine/printer? : )
I would have never in a million years quessed how great this vest is. It is NOT "nerdy" in any way...well, maybe if you stuff it with everything you own but that is not my way.

I will tell you this. I just got back from a Chinese dinner and I had worn my vest. I had 7 comments about the vest...all were positive.

Scott has done a remarkable job in creating active wear for those of us that want to carry our "stuff" but don't want others to know it. I can tell you this, any items from SCOTTeVEST are going to have the look, feel, and class that you would want to have.

LOL the good thing is that you cant tell what the person is carrying. But yes they do sell a leather style jacket.
Sorry still a little nerdy to me,I like the concept of hidden pockets and places to put wires. Can they make it look like a regular demin or leather jacket? something that does not say "Look at me I have 2000 dollars of electronics hidden on me please mug me!"
