The Essence of Coolness - SCOTTeVEST

Wow, eight pockets so far and all can be used for multiple and yet distinct purposes. Only your imagination can tell you the variety of possible uses?well, that is not really true. Scott has placed in each pocket a special card that has suggested uses. In one of the hand pockets there was a card that suggested using keys, CD/MP3 player, mini-disk player, camera, portable keyboard, wallet, and any other larger item. In addition, he lists special features a pocket might have, like the pocket he designed to hold a soda bottle after experiencing difficulty one day dealing with multiple items he had in his hands. He placed a soda bottle in his pocket and it spilled. That did it, his next iteration included a special pocket in a pocket to allow for bottles so they would not tip over and spill. Pretty cool!

Hidden inside the flap of the front zipper, there are hidden magnetic closures. A great idea for keeping the flap closed when the jacket is zipped. They are completely hidden and of course, designed not to interfere with any device you have. At the bottom of the vest there is a snap closure if you choose to use it.

On each shoulder, there is a small epaulet that would allow you to attach a GPS or similar device that you might want exposed. An excellent idea and I am sure one that came from another personal experience.

The exterior design of this vest is very clean. It has a great look, a comfortable feel, and the look of quality. The finishing touches on the exterior are the cool SCOTTeVEST logos on the top of the front flap, and another on the rear. Located on the bottom of the vest close to the sides are full logos of SCOTTeVEST on one side and TEC on the other.

So the search continues for the rest of the pockets. As I opened my vest up and looked inside of the back, there was a "cool mesh" cloth that was there to "breath" while you are wearing it. You see this "wickable" material on a lot of sports clothing today and as you know, it is excellent for a variety of climates.

I could now see how Scott was able to make the large pocket in the back. It was designed so it came into the inside of the jacket about 1/2 of an inch. I was very impressed with the design; it was neatly done and clearly had a lot of thought that went into it.

I tried the Sport version but after a while I gave up. I liked the concept, but it was too hot to wear in the summer; it weighed a lot and the weight in the various pockets made it feel very odd to wear, it just hung down; the weights in the pocket made the lower pockets swing outward whenever I turned around so I was frequently slamming my lower pockets into door jambs and other people;

but the main problem was that you get tired of always wearing the same jacket no matter the weather. At one point I started wearing it over another jacket when it was really cold, but then I realized how stupid that looked and I gave up. The search continues.

Also, while a great idea, the loops for holding headphones and cellphone ear pieces don't work very well -- they need some sort of auto-retraction, otherwise they're always just flopping around and getting in the way.
Jack great revew. I have owned one for a few years now and it is great for traveling. It looks like a regular jacket and nobody knows what you are carrying. If it is a little warm unzip the sleeves and you have a nice vest. It is durable and very well made.
You state that it has the logo in several places, advertising what you have or might have.Thieves will see the logos and they are not always dumb. I think its to much advertising. I to liked the Dockers with the pockets, very casual. I will be fair and wait to see one before I rip/praise it. I would like to see the leather one. also is it cool (comfort) to wear indoors or would you need to shed it and worry about it like a expensive camera at your side. Maybe I just hung out to much in downtown Chicago
It's great... but isn't it heavy? Carry all those stuff around...
kinda like outfits for covert operators. I liked the Dockers with hidden pockets. If you have a 6315 why do you need more unless you want to pack a fax machine/printer? : )
I would have never in a million years quessed how great this vest is. It is NOT "nerdy" in any way...well, maybe if you stuff it with everything you own but that is not my way.

I will tell you this. I just got back from a Chinese dinner and I had worn my vest. I had 7 comments about the vest...all were positive.

Scott has done a remarkable job in creating active wear for those of us that want to carry our "stuff" but don't want others to know it. I can tell you this, any items from SCOTTeVEST are going to have the look, feel, and class that you would want to have.

LOL the good thing is that you cant tell what the person is carrying. But yes they do sell a leather style jacket.
Sorry still a little nerdy to me,I like the concept of hidden pockets and places to put wires. Can they make it look like a regular demin or leather jacket? something that does not say "Look at me I have 2000 dollars of electronics hidden on me please mug me!"
