FIRST IMPRESSIONS (rx3700)...

The cradle is sort of cool looking. It is a new design that is weighted in the back. The "sleeve" that the iPAQ would slide into is removable for other adapters that are interchangeable. One cradle for multiple devices...a nice idea. It has only a USB connection so charging is done when cradled and your computer is running. If you need to charge your device, there is an AC power pack that you can also use.

Inserting the iPAQ brought active sync up and a partnership was established. I was able to set up my device the way I like it very easily. As I was syncing Avantgo, Dockware appeared on my iPAQ using the pictures that I took earlier as a screensaver. I have been using Dockware for years and was pleased to see that it comes standard with this iPAQ

As I opened the package containing the companion CD, I was immediately impressed with the documentation that came prepackaged. A "getting started" pamphlet, a "How Do I ?" booklet for finding answers to FAQs, setup, features and more. There is an options pamphlet, some miscellaneous pamphlets on care packs, cases, tech support, license agreements, etc as well as a comprehensive book (not a pamphlet...a book!) on Special Features of your HP Photosmart Camera and iPAQ Mobile Media. This is one fairly comprehensive package that HP prepared for your use. I congratulate them for thinking ahead and preparing the user with hard copy documentation.

There were two CDs that came packaged together, an HP Image Zone CD and the companion CD. After inserting the companion CD there was an introduction that started giving an overview of the device. Perky music and well done graphics made for an interesting demo.

Pressing Getting Started begins an excellent wizard to guide you through your setup. The setup recognized that I needed an upgrade for Outlook and installed HP Image Transfer and HP Image Zone on my PC.

Installing the Mobile Media for PC was the next item on the agenda. It was an easy install and I was up and running in a short period of time. With Mobile Media, not only can you play digital media stored locally but also you can stream content from your PC, play content on your PC controlling it from your iPAQ and transfer media to your iPAQ from your PC. It was a cool experience, it worked very well but there are some file formats that are not supported.

Jack,
What is your experience with streaming from http://www.pocketpcmedia.com on the rx3700
Good job dude! em, how was the processor's performance, benchmark? in part 2?... lol... I'm getting really excited!
Lol wait until we do our 4700 review..
so now the question is, do i go with this and keep my phone too or go with the 6300???
Great article. Thanks for the e-mail to it.
Wow! Indeed, excellent review and great device. Good job; it maked me wanting to really buy this!
Great Review! Thanks for the Pics. It takes better pictures then my Palm Zire 72. After reading this review I'm sold.

Is the rx3700 worth the extra dough over the rx3415? $100 is a lot of money.
Actually I was surprised at the charge rate. It was at 50% when I first got it and was fully charged before I knew it. I did not time it but shortly after plugging it in the cradle it was charged.

What impresses me more is the length of time the battery lasts. A significant difference over my 5555 when I'm using WiFi.

So far...I am really impressed with this new iPAQ. It does everything my 5555 does and more!

Very nice review. Obviously you played with it a while, so any feedback on how long to fully charge the first time, as well as the battery life?
