The cradle is sort of cool looking. It is a new design that is weighted in the back. The "sleeve" that the iPAQ would slide into is removable for other adapters that are interchangeable. One cradle for multiple devices...a nice idea. It has only a USB connection so charging is done when cradled and your computer is running. If you need to charge your device, there is an AC power pack that you can also use.
Inserting the iPAQ brought active sync up and a partnership was established. I was able to set up my device the way I like it very easily. As I was syncing Avantgo, Dockware appeared on my iPAQ using the pictures that I took earlier as a screensaver. I have been using Dockware for years and was pleased to see that it comes standard with this iPAQ
There were two CDs that came packaged together, an HP Image Zone CD and the companion CD. After inserting the companion CD there was an introduction that started giving an overview of the device. Perky music and well done graphics made for an interesting demo.
Pressing Getting Started begins an excellent wizard to guide you through your setup. The setup recognized that I needed an upgrade for Outlook and installed HP Image Transfer and HP Image Zone on my PC.
Installing the Mobile Media for PC was the next item on the agenda. It was an easy install and I was up and running in a short period of time. With Mobile Media, not only can you play digital media stored locally but also you can stream content from your PC, play content on your PC controlling it from your iPAQ and transfer media to your iPAQ from your PC. It was a cool experience, it worked very well but there are some file formats that are not supported.
