HP iPAQ rx3700

As we flip the unit over you will notice (1) Stylus – remember the stylus’s are universal from the rz1700 all the way up to the h6300. (2) Self Portrait Mirror – This is a really nifty idea when you look into the camera you will see yourself in this tiny mirror, heck how else are you going to see how your own portrait will look? (3) 1.2 Mega Pixel camera lens (4) Battery cover – Removable/Rechargeable 1440 mAH Lithium-ion battery. You will also notice HP has added 3 continuous rubber stoppers on the left side of the unit to add stability when the unit is placed on a table top. Nice little add-ons that make the end user experience more enjoyable.

iPAQ Mobile Media

Once you turn the unit on you will see the new iPAQ Entertainment screen offering you four options. (1) Photosmart Camera (2) Mobile Media (3) Home Control (4) Photos. This new setup makes me wonder why Microsoft hasn’t thought about implementing these features in a possible new Windows Mobile OS? Doesn’t Microsoft make the Windows Media Center? It would’ve just made sense if they made a Windows Mobile Media OS right? You might think so after you get done reading this review.

Once you click on the Photosmart Camera (right) it will bring up your camera screen. In the upper left hand side you will see it shows how many pictures you can take considering the amount of space or SD card you use.You will also notice stars which represent the amount of compression you have selected.

The bottom of the camera screen offers a multitude of options (1) Shutter release (2) Video Camera mode (3) Zoom In (4) Zoom Out (5) Play (6) User Settings (7) Help (8) Close. During our tests we were not completely impressed with the 1.2 Mega Pixel camera but we can confidently say it is better than the traditional cameraphones.

You can see a sample photo we took to your left. We also did not like that in the video camera mode the files are saved in a proprietary video format that the end user needs to use bundled software to view. This bugs me a little since the unit does come with PocketTV Pro which can play MPEG video?

Excellent review , i must admit that convinced me to purchase my own rx 3700.... everything ok ! synchronised perfectly and very fast approx . 3000 contacts from Outlook on laptop easy to use, loved the remote control function , excellent pictures ....BUT......there is always a BUT..... i can't connect to Internet through my wireless access point/router on my Home network.... any one can help ???
LOL... I hear what your are saying! Thanks for the compliments!!
Great review Dave! It makes my hp2210 already look like a boat anchor. I guess you just can't ever get caught up with the latest thing. Believe me, I've tried and found it to be true and expensive. Keep up the great site.

Dave,
Can you tell me how the rx3700 deals with streaming video over the internet.

Dwight
how do u record the tv show with ur 3700 direct record through it?
Can't wait for this to be available. Been calling my local CompUSA weekly and its always, "any day now"
Benchmarking isnt a big deciding factor. We polled our audience to see if they want benchmarks and came back no. Too many factors in benchmarking who knows what programs are loaded, two different OS, etc.
hmmm... it's like promoting ipaq rx3700, can you try to make something about comparing with other such as its predecessor ipaq 4150.. in term of battery power, processor speed, dimension... ah... and the spb benchmarking! so, we can grasp a better understanding on this unit!

but, afterall, you guys really done a great review! :)
Thank you we try! Its a frenzy this week with reviews and I truly love this unit. I just moved my 4100 and moved it to the second shelf :)
Great review Dave! Reviews like this just make you wanna grab it from the screen of IE...
Great job Dave!
