Review: MiLi Chargers

PhoneSuit (makers of the MiLi Power Pack for the iPhone) sent us review units of their new USB car and wall chargers.

I've been using these chargers for a few weeks, and had a chance to get some good usage in before I completed my review.

First up is the compact travel charger: I received a unit in black, although they offer several different color combinations. This is a travel charger, and the plug folds back into the charger, making it slim and easy to pack. I was initially disappointed to see that there was only one USB port in the top of the unit (I was hoping for two). However, I have used the charger for the last three weeks straight, and it has worked flawlessly. It has a very nice soft touch paint finish on the back with a anodized aluminum front.

I use this charger for my iPhone on my nightstand, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that although it has a charging status LED, the LED is white and not super-bright. The light softly pulses when charging, and glows solid once it switches to trickle charge. With 800ma of charging output, it should charge any USB device.

Up next is a stylish-looking car charger. It fits in any available 12V power port, and offers 2 USB ports, one on either side. This is very useful for someone like me who needs to charge more than one device at the same time. The car charger also includes status LEDs for each port which are subtle but give you a good indication about the charge status of the device connected. It outputs 1A DC, and easily charged all of my gadgets in several of my cars.

Overall, I really enjoyed using these devices. They are very well-made, and feel very solid. Pick your color of red, blue, or black, and head over to PhoneSuit.com where they are currently on sale for $19.99 each.

Please note that although these items are targeted at the iPhone/iPod crowd, since they are USB they should work for almost any USB device. I tested them with my Blackberry, Tilt, Sansa Clip, BlueAnt Z9i, and any other USB device I could get my hands on, and they worked perfectly with all of them.

Always been an iGo fan myself. Just get whatever tip I need for 9.99 and I am good to go in the car, away from home, etc.
If you're looking for a AC Adapter with four USB ports, you might want to consider the Lenmar ACUSB4 AC Travel Adapter. It comes with multiple plug adapters for international travel. $22.97 at Amazon.com and eligible for free shipping. I've used it on multiple trips in the US, China, and Egypt and it's always worked flawlessly.
