Bringing a new media experience to Windows Mobile
Whether you are a consumer on the go or need to multi-task, this all-in-one Windows Mobile device makes it simple to gain access and stay connected with all your music and photos. The MOTO Q music 9m boasts sleek styling and convenient features such as an optimized keyboard for accurate and fast typing, a side-scroll thumbwheel for easy one-handed menu navigation, and dedicated keys for easy access to your favorite features like messaging, speakerphone, and multimedia--all enhancing the user's experience. This is the first Windows Mobile smartphone by Verizon to support the V-Cast Music service something we all have been asking for. A change...
My first impression is that I really like the form factor along with the Verizon today screen. Many will disagree with me but those who aren't Windows Mobile guru's will enjoy it. Stay tuned as I will use the Motorola Q9m as my dedicated device for two weeks. After the two week trial I will update my thoughts and feelings about this new multimedia device.

Does the issue happen even after a soft reset? If so, then try hard reset or with a demo phone at the store. If you are experiencing the same issue then I would change to another device before you are unable to change without penalty.
I am having the same issue with text messaging. While writing a text, it will randomly minimize. Should I send away for a new phone, or just get something different? thanks for the help everyone

I am trying to open a .pdf file with nothing else running, according to the task manager. For example, If I change the zoom from 50% to 25% it will "minimize" and then will not open for another few seconds even if I try to immediatly open it again. The same thing happens when opening the file. I am thinking the size of the file is the problem. 733kB seems a little large for a mobile os to handle. Am I correct in that assumption?

Matt,
This is a Wm issue, not a Q specific one. What is mostl ikely happening Wm is shutting down apps due to lack of memory. You most likely have other apps running in the background. Standard wm behavior is that when you close an app it gets minimized and is not truly closed. To solve this problem run the task manager and close any app that you may not need at the time. That should free up memory.
Hey Dave, Ive had my Q for about two weeks now and my programs just shut down and it brings me back to the home screen. This is especially common when using documents-to-go. It is really an issue that annoys me. Have you had any trouble similar to this?
I just got done playing around with a Q9 at a local Verzion store. I used it for about 20 minutes. Overall impression: I really didn't like it. It was too wide for my hands and the scroll wheel was inconvienient on the right hand side.
I do like the black/red styling also, but the front face/keypad seems kinda boring, though. I can see the plastic cover being broken off if you use a wired headset a lot. I would actually have to put my hands on the device to see whether or not I would like the homescreen. I am so used to having a personalized Today Screen where I get a lot of information by just looking at the phone and not having to touch anything. Out of curiosity, though, what color is the backlight for the keypad? Is it just a white light, or colored? I can't tell from the video. And it seems you wold definitely need a case to protect the camera lense as the back appears to completely flat with nothing to help prevent scratching and other damage.
Thanks for the overview Dave. I'm also interested in how the battery life is for you as well as seeing a size comparison between this and the original Q. Would be nice to see them side by side...
Jerry great comments. I can tell you 100 percent this keyboard is very comfortable and possibly the best keyboard I have used. Each key is oval shape giving you a nice touch point off of every key.
You other questions I will find out as I am using the device as my primary phone..
The headset adapter has a plastic flip cover? Yuk! That home screen interface looks all but useless if you do anything else besides multimedia. It's also larger than the original Q which I don't particularly like. I am sure Moto could have improved the original keyboard without adding to the bulk of the device.
The keys, while bigger than the Q's look flat and have no space between them which might be s detriment when trying to type with any sort of speed.
Other reviews have mentioned there still is a big problem with battery life. I would be interested in hearing what you have to say about it.
