Nice device with what look to be excellent usability customizations. But I dislike the trend in which the same port is used for charging and for the headset (call me old fashion, but I prefer a wired headset over a wireless one).
Nice Review ! Great Job ! is Awsome. The sad thing is that this smartphone is outdated already. Try a Moto Q is much better, maybe Blackberru Bold it look much better. I am disapointed with the course that Palm Inc. has taken. Once the leader on Palm computing and smartphones is now with the Treo 800 a futile attempt to keep up with business. Very cheap and ugly looking, poor performance, simply "it sucks" Unless this phone is $99.00 is see very little people switching into it. Good try Palm but the people are switching to fruits, and forgetting about the Palm. I did... I am so sad Palm was so slow to react to new and improved technology. If I where you I'll dump my Palm Inc stocks . . . I did
I had the touch for a few months. I went from the Mogul because I thought the keyboard was not that big a deal.
WRONG!!!!
The onscreen keyboard applications just didn't cut it for me. Fortunately I was able to make a trade and get back to the Mogul.
NOW I'm waiting,(and waiting)for my 800W.
Having a one-handed keyboard will be heaven. And even with the (so far) minor differences between Palm's tweaked WM vs my Mogul experience, this will become my new #1.
The 800w does not use a proprietary connector as you state in your video. It uses the new MicroUSB 2.0, which is set to become the new standard.

In addition to removing the need for multiple ports, MicroUSB supports something called On The Go, which is intended to enhance communication between devices.

Nokia is already using MicroUSB on some devices. Palm has joined them at the front of this next wave, already within sight.

Can Palm win? They're with the flow, in this area, and STILL you fault them.
After a few days on the 800w, I've found that the gps locks in seconds.

Jerry, not sure what the difference is between the generic 6.1 threaded message and Palm's...looks like what I'm used to from my Centro.
Now this peaks my interest a bit. I was thinking about the BB Bold and like the form factor, but with the wm AND touch screen I would prefer the Palm. Gotta have the GSM/HSDPA though. Any idea of when AT&T or T-MO will get an 850? (I presume that would be the model for GSM)
I also understand the GPS in the 800w is not playing nice with progs such as TomTom & the like. I would like to know more about that.
Thanks Dave!
Nice review Dave. One question, is the threaded text messaging still Palm's version of it or is it now just the generic one that is provided with 6.1.

As a GSM fan, the 850w with the flush screen would be of more interest to myself. However, living now in the full-touch screen entry of the Touch Cruise has shown me that I can most certainly live without a hardware keyboard and be productive with my device.
Very good review Dave! I think I will stick with my Sprint Touch for the time being though.
