Birthday reminder - problem

I think this qualifies as a general IPAQ Q...

I'm having a problem setting up contacts.

I can enter the info fine, no problem...What I would like to see on the calender is that on day 'X' it's so and so's b-day. This happens for some contacts, but not for others. I can't figure out why...

Just to clarify...I enter a contacts info, inculding B-day. I then go to the calender...click on the the date of this persons B-day and for some contacts it's listed, for others it is not.

Thanks

If you have a lot of contacts with Birthdays entered, it can take quite some time for the Calendar to be populated with the Birthdate appoinment info as birthdates are treated like an appointment.

For example, I have 388 contacts and when I 1st fire up Calendar from a soft reset it can take up to 60 seconds for all appointments, birthdates, holidays, etc to populate Calendar.

If after waiting a few moments doesn't seem to work, try synchronising with Outlook, ensuring you've selected Contacts and Calendar to be synchronised in ActiveSync. Then have a look at your Contact and Calendar info on your desktop to see if all info is correct. Try looking at actual date the person was born. If it appears, it may be a problem with the birthdate appointment not being processed as a recurring appointment. Then try looking at the person's birthday for this year. If it doesn't appear, then you've confirmed the problem.

I find it much easier to view and edit all of your Contact and Calander information when there's a lot of editing to do.

Let me know how you go.

Got it

Thanks very much...

I actually only had a few contacts...so I deleted them and started over...

It seems that if they are entered into the IPAQ remotely, the B-day does not show up UNTIL you sync it with outlook...then it's okay.

I'll play with it some more and see if I encounter any problems.

I did notice that if you delete a contact, you have to delete the corresponding B-day from the calendar "manually".

Yes, that's s result of the way Outlook (both Pocket and full PC versions) treats Birthdays as a separate appointment to the Contact.

Can be very annoying to remember to delete 2 items on the Pocket PC. But as I mentioned, I quite often find it easier to do this stuff on my desktop when there's quite a bit of editing to do of my Contacts.

You'll also find that if you're synchronising with 2 computers (I Sync with work and home) you occasionally get doubling of Birthday appointments and Contacts.

I have a problem with doubling of Birthday appointments. Does anybody know an easy way to clean this up, other than doing this manually (I have a lot of contacts).
