It winds up being that 50% of the New York City market has already been deployed with the upgraded equipment.
In addition T-Mobile is saying that they should be offering it out in other markets as soon as mid-2007 with the close to complete deployment by 2008. New devices should come out by mid-2007 as well.
Yes that is cool, but what phones do cool new devices are they offering to support the new high speed or do I need to just break down and go buy a HTC TyTN?

Finally, some high speed news from T-Mobile.
What you failed to mention Phys is that T-Mobile's new spectrum is in bands that no current phone supports – new devices will have to be developed to work in the new 1,700-MHz and 2,100-MHz bands. Even the 2100 band is different from the band that many European countries have. European 2,100-MHz devices will not be able to work well on the American version.
I wonder what the chances are of HTC making a version of teh Tytn that will run on tmo's bands? I am correct in assuming that they are different than wht Cingular is going to use right?
JN or anyone here, do you seriously believe that T-Mobile would spend $4.2 billion dollars on spectrum, approx $2.7 billion on build out and deployment, publicly make an announcement about the plans for rollout of the service and then NOT have any provisions for devices which will work on this network????
C'mon, I did not mention it because it appeared obvious to me. Of coarse they will have devices that work on the network by mid-2007. They will probably have devices out when New York City is finished deploying. Their history with the EDGE devices was to have them out as soon as they started deploying the EDGE network. I do not see why it would suddenly be different now.
Personally, I'm hoping that HTC will produce an Omni with 4-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz) AND with 4-band UMTS/HSDPA (850 MHz and 1900 MHz for Cingular, 2100/1700 MHz for T-Mobile USA, and 2100/1900 MHz for the rest of the world). Maybe I'm hoping for way too much? A TyTN with the same specs would be good, too.

Fugita, I suspect that they will use the Tytn from T-Mobile UK, as they did with the MDA but with the proper frequency and WITH the camera and WiFi, unlike the Cingular version to come out.

Great..!!! i want to know more about T.mobiles can you prefer some websites to me please
I will be holding out on getting any new device until mid-2007.
Wow. I just checked T-Mo's signal strength coverage maps in NYC/LI area and I am surprised see as many weak-signal spots as there are. I always knew T-Mo's coverage was spottier than Verizon or Cingular, but I expected better coverage by now.

This surprises me too. I figured that by now, NYC would have near perfect coverage by just about each provider! A little disapointing! I can tell you that Phoenix coverage is very good on T-mobile...too bad it isn't the same everywhere...
Yup, same here. T-Mobile coverage is very good in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale vicinity as well. Maybe that is why there only 50% completion in NYC. They could be planning more build out in that area for basic service first. Who knows?
What I am interested in seeing is if the amount of bandwith that they recently received is for the purpose of slowing down the competitors completion time or for providing higher speeds (Like in UK 1.8 Mbps) rather than current competitions 400-700 Kbps.
Looks like T-Mobile had decided to take a backseat on the high-speed access train. They still have no plans for roll-out and have just come out with another EDGE dud device.
My last 2 spare phones died, so before I go pay the $200 to upgrade to the Dash, does anyone know when/if/how soon Tmobile will have their 3g service up and running?
As I read previously, the new TMobile 3G is not suppose to be compatible with standard 3G, i.e. Cingular. I read the standard 3G radio will dumb down to EDGE speeds. So no sense of me picking up a Blackjack now and unlocking it.
I gotta go this morning and get me a phone cause mines just rollin into voicemail
Anybody?
