I just got a Motorola HS810 bluetooth wireless headset and
want to try to use them with my rx3715. However, I can't seem
to locate the 'audio gateway' option under 'services' to make the
audio automatically go to the headsets.
I was able to 'pair' the devices as a 'serial command', but I can't
seem to get the audio to go to the headset.
On my iPAQ h5555, I can click on the Bluetooth icon in the lower right hand corner, and pick Bluetooth Settings. Under Settings, I pick the farther-most tab on the right called (appropriately enough) Audio Gateway. I believe this is the screen you want to access on your iPAQ. Hopefully the route is the same!
I bought Jabra 250 headsets and I returned them and got the Motorola ones.
Jabra wouldn't pair at all with the rx3715 but the HS810 at least pairs. Also works
with the PC!
HOWEVER, the screen shot Laura attached is exactly the screen I have MINUS the
audio gateway!?!? I'm not sure what's up with that. The HS810 pairs up with the
rx3715 as a 'serial port', but I can't get any sound. Been trying a few things and
no luck (yet).
Like I mentioned, I did get them to work with the PC.
Thanks for the responses...Any further ideas would be much appreciated!
I have the updated ROM and mine says:
Bluetooth for Windows CE
BT-PPC Version 1.5 Buid 2600
I do not have any audio gateway selection or any headset profile. Am I missing something???
BTW, Not sure if I had heard this or am just making this up, but i think I read somewhere that the rx3715 does not support an audio gateway or a headset profile - seems to be the case at this point - Please let me know if anyone else has heard this, or if there is a way that we can get it ......
It's funny because I've seen that ROM update before on HP's site but when I click on 'download'
it never finds the page. I'm not sure if anyone else has that problem. I'm thinking it's a broken
link. I'm currently trying to find it elsewhere and then will update the ROM.
mjcelli,
The file is a 23Mb file - i would send it to you, but it may overload my Exchange server - I do know that you will need to load a small app from hp to get to the download - java stuff i think. The file is SP29416.exe you may be able to find it somewhere else on the web ?????
Thanks on the ROM file name!
I found it at another (Compaq) location and will install tonight.
Seems from posts it doesn't help on the audio issue, but we'll see....
I have seen other sites which say that the version of windows for the RX3715 has this audio gateway bit disabled. You need to edit the registry to create the ability to link to headsets as headsets and not just serial lnks.
I found this info elsewhere too, with better info, but I can't find it now. Not sure about it referring to dword, but the other place said you needed to change another reference from the windows wave player to bluetooth audio, but it implied that once done all sound goes to the headset. I will update if I find the better link again, but I'm not messing with the registry until I'm sure it will do what I want.

I found this on the brighthand forums. It worked for my 2215.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Services\0005\Enabl ed
Change value to 1.
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev\Dll
Change value to BtCeIf.dll
Reset device,
Run bluetooth manager and connect to headset..
right(hold) click and connect
When it gets connected, you will hear a beep from the headset like you are getting a call. Answer.
AFter that, all the sound will be routed to the headset.
Don't know if this permantly routes sound to the headset. If you read the whole thread it says people are getting the connection noise, but no audio, so this may imply that's fixed, or may mean audio is permantly going to the bluetooth.
Hope that helps anyone, and they can follow that thread for any other help.
Wow, thanks for the info!!
Now I have to find a registry editor...hehe.
Ya know, the rx3715 is touted as hp's "mobile media companion" device, but it doesn't
have 'audio gateway' option to support wireless headphones?!?!?!?
Especially while other models do...hmmm....Strange to me!

Hi mjcelli,
Did you try it? Did it work?
The HKLM\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Services\0005\ registry key does not exist on my rx3715 (ROM 1.01.10 FRA, Bluetooth 1.5.0.2600) and I am quite reluctant to add it.
