Slow read on 2GB Sandisk Ultra II SD card

I just got delivery from Dell on a Sandisk 2GB SD Ultra II card. Inserted and the unit recognized it fine. Transferred via USB cable (yeah, I know, buy a cardreader, its faster), and everything seemed fine...the transfer rate seemed to be its normal relatively slow self.

I rip my DVDs using Gordian Knot so I can watch them when I work out, and also throw kids movies on to keep my son happy when he's a little 'restless', shall we say. These files range from 80mb to 700mb.

I've had no problem in the past watching movies up to 230mb on my old 256mb card, using PocketMPV.

However, with the new 2gb card, I'm getting almost 100% dropped frames, regardless of the size of the file.

Is there something about larger block sizes or problems with the rx3115 reading larger SD cards that I should be aware of? I tried caching the video with absolutely no difference in the result, by the way. I would have expected SOME improvement even with big block reads or some similar size-related problem.

Suggestions?

try using betaplayer

I had been using pocketmvp with problems as well. Until I found out about betaplayer ( http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/ ) and now videos play flawlessly. If your movie is a large file ex: 700mb, you might want to raise the cache on betaplayer as well as some other customizable features not found in pocketmvp. The largest fill I've ever used with it was 500mb and it was ripped with auto gordianknot (autogk) so you shouldn't have any problems with it. Once again, I highly recomend Betaplayer it should solve your problem. oh yea and make sure the amount of cache you set in the player fits onto the amount of internal memory your pocket pc has not the amount you have on storage card! (if you didn't already know)

Yep...it was the PocketMPV

Changing to Betaplayer was the key. Everything works peachy. And I highly recommend the 2gb Sandisk Ultra II. FYI, it took about 3 weeks for Dell to get it in to stock and ship it, which is not bad, and the price was reasonable.
