Palm Teams With Microsoft for Smart Phone

Palm Inc. is teaming up with Microsoft Corp. to launch a Windows-based version of the Treo smart phone, marking the first time that the pioneer of handheld computers is making one with software other than its beloved Palm platform.

The new 700 Treo will be offered through Verizon Wireless, according to industry sources we have spoken with.

The three companies have scheduled a press conference for Monday. Representatives for Palm and Verizon Wireless declined to comment.

The new device will run on the Windows Mobile operating system, the long-time chief rival to the Palm operating system in the handheld computer market.

Tune in on Monday at 9am PST to see what Palm has in store

I LOVE EVDO ;) FINALLY !!!! YIPEEE
A very slick looking device. I think I like it!
I used to be a Verizon customer before I switched to the wonderful world of GSM and SIM cards. I have to guess a GSM Version will be Some months away.

Anyways, this is good news on so many fronts.
Well, the one good thing that will come of it, is that more software should be getting in line with the square screen format.
I am so excited about this announcement!! Welcome to the Windows Mobile arena Palm (OPEN ARMS)
