o2 Wizard Photos

One of the devices we actually haven't seen up close and personal is the soon to be released o2 Wizard by High Tech Computer Corporation. In these photos you can see the Wizard is featuring a TI OMAP CPU with 200 MHz only, instead of an Intel Xscale based CPU. This device also features a slide out keyboard and Windows Mobile 5.0

Not mad - glad (as I mentioned in my post below about the size and weight). PDAGeek posted some great photo of the Treo and Wizard side by size.

The on advantage that Treo definately has and will continue to have when equipped with WM is the one handed operation. The guys over at Howardsforum pretty much confirmed that the Treo is the king of one handed operation (which Btw I consider an important feature for a phone). The Wizard and WM 5 devices are getting better, but as I understand it, Palm had alot of conversation with MS to allow Palm to customize WM5 for the "one handed experience".
Just another note, the Wizard is actually smaller than the Treo 650 by 5mm in length and 1mm in width. The Wizard is only thicker than the Treo 650 by .7mm.

Don't be mad JN. :P

Of course the O2 Atom is smaller than the Wizard coming in at 6mm shorter and 5.2mm thinner. The same width as the Wizard, though.
I am glad to see that the HTC Wizard is finally starting to get some announcement here. Although, the O2 Wizard is exactly the same as the i-mate K-JAM and the Qtek 9100 with the exception of having the butt-ugly design.

There are three HTC Wizard versions; the WIZA 100 (w/camera), WIZA 110 (w/o camera) and the WIZA 200 (w/camera). The WIZA 100/110 are the butt-ugly designs (O2 Wizard), and the WIZA 200 (i-mate K-JAM, Qtek 9100) are the curvy kewl design models. All three have exactly the same hardware features (OMAP processor, 128 ROM/64 RAM, BT version, WiFi version, keyboard, etc..) with the only exception of the WIZA 110 which does not have a camera.

The only significantly different device mentioned here is the O2 Atom, suspected to not even be manufactured by HTC as well.

Still good to see the Wizard getting some notice though.

This is the O2 Wizard which is completely different than the wizard you are thinking of. Plus photos have not been published yet.
Correction to the below. The Imate version is called the K-Jam.
Dave,

The Wizard is already available as the Imate Jam. The Qtek 9100 will be available for sale sometime next week.

Both devices are definately on my short-list for my next device.

The O2 Atom is another due to it's small size.

So, what exactly do you mean "I am on to another device?" Since the Wizard has already been out for weeks now and in the hands of users, it has become an attactive option. My post in the General section (which was read but not responded to) mentions that fact. I also posted about the O2 Atom.
JN You asked for the WIZARD an i delivered a Wizard that hasnt been announced yet and now you are onto a another device.
I like the more rounded look of the Imate/Qtek versions a bit more. As for the processing, the owners themselves generally report no real adverse affects of the OMAP. Remember, this OMAP is a different chipset from the one in the 6300.

According to TI at the Palm Analyst conference, the 200mhz OMAP "cleaned the clock" of an equivalent processor from a well known company. I think anyone really concerned with processor speed should do some research on Intel vs. AMD. Same holds true here, with the OMAP doing just as well as an x-scale in most activities and an extreme advantage in battery life. I would venture to say, this device would run just as well, if not better than an equivalent 6500 with Intel 312mhz processor.

Regardless, the Wizard (and all it's variations) is an exciting device. It's about the same size as a Treo and it actually weighs less than my 2750!

The next device I wan't to see is the O2 Atom. The pics released today show that it is smaller than the XDA 02 Mini! :)
Nice looking device. I wish it had a faster processor.
