Apple ROKR crippled at 100 Song Limit

ROKR does Rock 101 songs!

We all are so quick to jump on HP at times but how would you like to buy the new Apple Itunes ROKR phone and have it crippled at a 100 song limit? I still dont see the buzz on this phone since all of our Smartphones and or PocketPC Phones play music but comon apple the device has 512MB of storage space!

iTunes 5 keeps track of the number of tracks authorized for playback on the phone so even if your 100 tracks have used only 350MB of the card’s capacity, you can’t add more. Similarly, although you can swap in a new card that contains new tracks, those tracks won’t play until they’ve been approved for playback by iTunes.

So before you yell at HP think about dishing out $249.00 and a 2 year contract to find out your phone has been crippled because Apple felt it was appropriate..

I'm sure Apple and the phone manufacturers will continue to enhance the features. As an iPod user, the iTunes integration along with ease of use of the device itself is what is so appealing. I've never helped my wife or kids with either the music store or the music player - that says it all to me.

Now I've explained to multiple people how to sync files from their PC to their Palm or PocketPC to use geocaching apps. Though it's mindless simple to some of us, it's definitely not obvious to the vast set of non-tech savvy consumers. The iPod on the other hand is. If this phone works like the iPod, I feel I wouldn't have to help my wife or kids use it either. (Not that I'm getting one or converting to Cingular).
Good points, but what would help this phone is using the phone to download, i.e., via EDGE or EVDO. Would have been nice to download songs directly instead having to sync songs via USB.
You don't see the buzz? How about 80-90 percent of the music download business is via iTunes? How about the phone integrates seemlessly with iTunes. What does that spell? Commercial success.

Sure MS PDA's and smartphones play music and may do it better. However, it's all about simplicity and integration which attract most of the consumer public. Unfortunately MS solutions don't offer integration with the world's most popular music service.
So I can buy as many songs as I want, but I can only have 100 of them "active?" I'll stick with my hundreds of WMA files on the Dell Axim, thanks! ;)
