Alienware Releases Aurora m7700 Mobile System

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2005--Alienware(R) -- the leading manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook, media center, server and professional systems -- introduced the new Aurora(TM) m7700, Alienware's first mobile system to be powered by AMD Athlon(TM) 64 FX and AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 dual-core processors. The Aurora m7700, an ideal alternative for anyone looking to replace their desktop without sacrificing performance, comes loaded with desktop-equivalent processing and graphics capabilities as well as dual hard drives and dual optical drives.

The Aurora m7700 is available with AMD Athlon(TM) 64 FX or AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 dual-core processors, conveniently giving users powerful 32-bit and 64-bit performance capabilities respectively. With AMD Athlon 64 FX processors, the Aurora m7700 delivers blazingly fast, cinema-quality gaming, while AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors enable an average performance increase of 34% over similar single-core processors when running multiple programs and multi-threaded software.

In addition to packing the latest NVIDIA(R) graphics technology for exceptional image quality, the Aurora m7700 features a 17" wide-screen LCD with ClearView technology that provides a crisp, vibrant display and plenty of workspace for any application. The Aurora m7700 also supplies tremendous storage and backup flexibility with support for dual hard drives in RAID 0 or 1 configurations and options for CD-RW/DVD and DVD R/W optical drives.

"Alienware's new AMD-based Aurora m7700 dispels the belief that mobile systems cannot deliver the same experience as high performance desktops," said Frank Azor, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Alienware's Worldwide Product Group. "From the gamer looking to dominate the next LAN party to the executive requiring cutting-edge power both in and out of the office, the Aurora m7700 delivers the perfect high performance mobile solution for any individual."

"AMD and Alienware have an impressive history of working together to provide customers with award-winning desktop PCs based on open industry platforms with true best-of-breed components," said Chris Cloran, director of AMD's Mobile Division, Microprocessor Solutions Sector. "Now the Aurora m7700 allows consumers the mobility and flexibility to take extreme PC performance and simultaneous 32-bit and 64-bit computing anywhere they need to go thanks to the unparalleled AMD Athlon 64 FX and AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors."
