The Xantrex Technology Inc. XPower Pocket Powerpack 100 has been selected as an honoree by the prestigious Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovations Design and Engineering Awards in the portable power category. The CES Awards recognize the most innovative consumer electronics products in 30 different categories for excellence in design and engineering. The XPower(tm) Pocket Powerpack 100, introduced last month, will be on display at the Xantrex booth

The XPower Pocket Powerpack 100 is a combination power inverter and battery pack that can be used to run or recharge a wide range of consumer electronic devices on the go. The portable Powerpack weighs less than 2.4 pounds, fits easily in a laptop bag and can recharge a Blackberry(tm) 30 times, an iPod(tm) 20 times, a cell phone at least eight times, or can provide up to 2.5 hours of additional runtime for most laptops without plugging into an outlet. "The XPower Pocket Powerpack 100 is the first universal compact stand-alone portable power solution in the market," said Doug May, Xantrex Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. "As a world leader in advanced power electronics, receiving this CES honor underscores our design excellence and reinforces the industry recognition of the innovative products for our growing portable power market."
The XPower Pocket Powerpack 100 is part of the new Pocket Power Line of products recently launched by Xantrex. The line also includes the Pocket Inverter 100 and the Pocket Inverter 175, which can be used to convert direct current (DC) power from car or airplane outlets into household alternating current (AC) power for use with electronic devices. This product line was launched as a result of the growing demand for portable power.
"There has been an explosion of personal portable devices in the market," said Avi Greengart, Principal Analyst of Mobile Devices for Current Analysis. "There is a clear market need for more flexible and portable power solutions."
