Sprite Software is delighted to announce a BETA release of Sprite Backup V5.0.0 for Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system. This BETA release is an important step in preparing for the full commercial release of Sprite Backup and we are very keen to hear feedback and improve the backup experience if possible.
This Thread is locked because we really need to have the feedback and backup log files in a central location from where we can manage it, which is our online support system;

We have done extensive testing and we are aware of a number of issues including the following;
· Scheduling fails to run when phone has a security lock enabled
· When you cancel a Backup to PC (initiated on the Pocket PC) the PC agent displays “Backup Completed” message instead of “Backup Cancelled”
· Device may not power off after waking to perform the Scheduled Backup
· NO Self Extracting Backups (still in development)
· Incompatibility with Credant CMG (being worked on)
· Sprite Backup must first be installed on the Mobile device before performing a PC Agent initiated Backup
· Basic Mode Restore of encrypted backups does not work – encrypted backups must be restored in Advanced mode
· To test the Backup Wizard on the PC, you need an activation code for it. Please use the following key: 2091680 The Beta is already licensed, this key is just for the PC Wizard.

Please ensure you download the correct version for your device. It is possible to check if your device is VGA by tapping Start> Settings> System tab> Device Information (check the screen size is 480 x640 TFT).
FEEDBACK:
The only way to determine whether a backup operation has really been completely successfully is to perform a restore of the data. We want to hear about any and all experiences encountered when restoring data and i.e will be providing complimentary licenses and special Beta t-shirts to the first 50 people who provide proof of having done both Backup and Restore operations. This can be done by attaching your backuplog.txt files to the feedback in the online support system. These files are located in "\My Device\Temp" There are two log files please attach both of them when you make a query at the CRM Desk.

The beta forum will be used for announcements and for instant feedback, but in order for responses and specific technical issues to be managed effectively, we will only be processing feedback via our online support system.
