An HP iPAQ rx1950 series Pocket PC with a Secure Digital (SD) memory card inserted may intermittently lock up after the device has gone into Standby. If the lock-up occurs, the Pocket PC is rendered unresponsive until the device is soft-reset. This issue occurs only on HP iPAQ rx1950 series Pocket PCs that have either ROM version 1.00 or 1.01. The device remains powered ON in Standby, even though the screen is dark. Because of the dark screen, the user may be unaware that the Pocket PC continues to drain battery power. As a result, the HP iPAQ rx1950 series Pocket PC battery may become depleted of power, unable to be rebooted after reset.
The HP iPAQ rx1950 series Pocket PC is designed to unload and reload the SD drivers when a card is present, even if the Pocket PC is locked. If calendar entries have been made, the application "awakens" the Pocket PC from Standby to update the entries and display calendar notices. Because the Calendar application works in the background while the screen is dark, calendar notices do not display.
This issue may occur intermittently on HP iPAQ rx1950 series Pocket PCs and rx1955 series Pocket PCs that have either ROM version 1.00 or 1.01.
The issue has been resolved with the development of HP SoftPAQs. You can find more information about the issue and where to get the appropriate SoftPAQ HERE
