Official HP iPAQ hx4700 discontinued

HP has completely pulled the hx4700 series iPAQ from their storefront this morning. A bunch if not all retailers have pulled and noted the device as being discontinued. During our conversation with HP they informed us that they will only carry the rx19xx, hx2xxx and hw65xx series iPAQ. We were told to look at HP Shopping website to see what models they will only be carrying. It seems as if HP is doing what they stated and pulling out of the non-converged market. Also during our conversation we were told that the hw69xx series iPAQ will be released on June 26th in partnership with Cingular Wireless.

I used to be a longtime employee with HP (>25 yrs, but this confirms the rightness of my decission to leave.
They suck ;) I love both of my 4705's and I BANISHED my HX2755 to gps duity I will not purchase another HP. LOOX is next on my list.

I loved the bigger screens but they go backwards and return to the little 3.5 screens all for a thumb keyboard. Phone screens get bigger and PDA screens get smaller. When I get a new PC or laptop I get a bigger screen, this is like buying a 15 inch screen after dumping a 19 inch. I give up on HP and I will dump my Ipaq and give my money to another company.
Yes,but won't be using the 3G until December when I will need a 3G compatable SIM card from Orange, (can't upgrade contract until then)I may not even use it then. It just shows how much technology they can fit in such a small device though doesn't it?
SHC,

Did you verify that the Loox is compatible with your carriers 3G frequency?
I agree. I have a JAMin now which is just missing GPS. I have pre-ordered the LOOX T830 which is 3G, GPRS, Quad band, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 2MP camera, VGA camera and a keyboard. It also uses a mini usb port and the SD format. Hp's 6900 uses mini-SD and it's usual iPAq connector. The only thing I'm a little wary of is the 2.4" square screen.
Um...today's WM5 smartphone edition devices (ie. Wizard, 6900, Apache...etc) perform the functions of a truely "wireless" device. Why would you need anything from Motorola or Nokia?
Next I expect HP to pull out of the PDA market entirely. My passion for the PDA will expire with my hope of a truely wireless (anywhere, anytime, anyplace) device. Maybe my next Motorola or Nokia cell phone will perform the service HP has not.
