I'd wager money that this will not have an HDMI port nor have much to do (if anything) with Blu-Ray for a few reasons. The first PC motherboard with a built-in HDMI port was just announced last week; highly unlikely that a handheld board would have an HDMI port this soon. As far as Blu-Ray, the purpose of it is to provide a high-def 1080p resolution. That's a native progressive screen res of 1920 x 1080, which is overkill (and not technically doable yet) on a handheld-sized screen. HDMI and Blu-Ray logically fit with the hinted at notebook at best. Besides, wouldn't there be an HDMI port on the dock of the handheld if the device supported HDMI? Just my $.02 as an HDTV addict.

I own the PPC-6700 and although I think it's currently the best Cell/PDA on the market, the Sony UX50 was the best PDA form factor ever built. I upgrade equipment at least annually and yet the one piece of equipment I've held onto is my UX50; the simplicity of its layout and wonderful keyboard make it the best PDA ever built (screen aside). Having said that; it is only a PDA and we converged into a new market that demands connectivity and multimedia. If Sony really wants to hit the mark they will design a device that is 20% communications and 80% entertainment (very rough breakout, let’s not argue numbers). It needs fast wireless data connection that works, have all the connections possible (and it look like they're doing that), run cool and silent, have a ton of storage for data, music and movies. And finally have a seamless interface to move content from your PC (Media Centers/TIVO’s, etc…) to it and via 3G but supply downloadable, inexpensive content from their library (not like the overpriced UMD’s). The bottom line is they need to combine (and update) the UX50, the PSP with Razor type design elegance hitting a beginning price point around $999, fully loaded at $1,499. As for option focus on a case, a 2nd monitor, well designed docking station (something that gives the WOW effect when someone sees it on your desk), removable batteries, and a decent DVD RW that couples to the device without cabling.

james our source cannot confirm with that at this time

The HDMI photo you have posted and the Blu-Ray referenced in the teaser are from the to-be-announced AR notebook which as I reported about the URL of the Sony teaser is an "AR and UX" campaign. The AR notebook is to support Blu-Ray with an integrated drive.

I dont think Cingular will sell the device but offer like Verizon does with HP and others.

Hmm...if Cingular does pick this up I wonder what kind of subsidy will be applied to it. End result = what the end customer will pay for it.

From what we hear it will be Cingular. Many of the previous 3g vaio's out in the market have Cingular.

Betting on that it'll be around the 2000$ price range. Here's my wish list for it
-EVDO
-5 Megapixel camera (Or at least more than 2 -megapixel)
-7 Hour battery life (or at least more than 4 with wifi and 3g on)
-Easy to use keyboard similar to the PPC-6700
-At least a 1.2-1.3Ghz ULV Core Solo
-Price BELOW 1000$ (keep dreaming)
-And while we are dreaming, have it at retailer's within 90 days to match the Dualcor cPC launch

Wow, that's some sleek design! However, knowing Sony, they will probably charge top dollar for it.
