Synchronize Google Calendar with your PocketPC!

A great new sponsor of the Mobility Today website just informed me of a fantastic synchronization solution to synchronize with Google calendar!

CompanionLink for Google Calendar is a two-way synchronization solution for people that want to extend their Google Calendar onto their desktop calendar systems or mobile devices.  It can synchronize Google Calendar with all the latest Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, Palm, and BlackBerry devices in addition to Outlook, Lotus Notes, Palm Desktop, and Groupwise applications.

Make changes to your calendar from any device or desktop program and rest assured that your Google Calendar will be updated automatically the next time you sync.  Whether you’re in the office, at home or on the road, you can now have the power of Google Calendar at your fingertips.

CompanionLink for Google Calendar is the perfect solution for you if:

  • you want to access your Google Calendar appointments from your mobile device or desktop calendar program
  • you want to be able to make changes to your calendar from your desktop calendar program or mobile device and have it automatically update your Google Calendar
  • you don’t want to re-enter and maintain information in two different calendars but would like access to your calendars from multiple sources
  • you want to be able to modify your calendar when you don’t have access to a computer or an internet connection
  • you plan on buying a new mobile device and want to be sure it syncs with your Google Calendar (we work with all the latest devices!)
  • you never want to miss a meeting or appointment while you’re away from your computer

Known Issues
CompanionLink for Google Calendar relies on Google APIs which are still being modified. We recommend caution if you synchronize more than 300 calendar entries. Also, recurring event exceptions are not yet supported by the sync APIs, so they may show as normal events. We expect these issues to be cleared over the next month as Google revises the APIs and CompanionLink adjusts to those revisions. CompanionLink updates are always free, so check back frequently as we will be updating this product.

The product works fairly well - MUCH easier than other programs. I wish that I could configure my ActiveSync to automatically load CompanionLink when syncing, but it still works beautifully, importing all of my Google calendars, including those managed by others.

Con: There is no contacts syncing with this program, which means we still have to go through another program/manual sync to keep the contacts up to date for both our Google accounts and PDAs.
Looks very interesting, I am trying to get rid of Outlook, but this software does not seem to offer contacts syncronization with google contacts :(
I agree and this is a nice solution.
Not everyone uses Exchange $erver.
I think people are better off using a hosted exchange subsription. (all native microsoft, faster, more options, easier to use, automaticly works)
I would be very interested to hear from some that have used this product. It looks very interesting.
