HSDPA Enabled on a Treo 750v

It looks like someone over at HowardForums was able to get their hands on some type of hack that will allow the Treo 750v to use Cingular's HSDPA signal. The person has posted screenshot showing the HSDPA speeds upwards of 900kb+ which is of course well and above the max for a plain vanilla UMTS signal.

Just how this individual obtained this information is a little suspect. He claims to have received the information from someone who will be posting it up on Ebay for auction (??) or posting it publicly. Regardless, it does seem that the 750v can be updated rather easily to provide HSDPA.

So, in the famous words of Ripley....Believe it or Not?

Oops sorry i didn't see your post before i sent that one
The guy that posted that posted a link his YouTube.com video... Looks pretty convincing to me, those speeds are far beyond UMTS, i don't think you can fake that video, but who knows until we see an actual sale / website selling it we won't know for sure!

Well a video has been made:

I read through the HowardForums thread and the xda-developers thread, and it sounds like this is very possible. According to several posts, the chip used in the 750v is the same one that is in the TyTn (Hermes), and supports HSPDA up to a theoretical 1.8Mbps. The original poster also went back and mentioned that some of the speedtests that he took that came back with ridiculous results (2+ Mbps) were caused by the cache on his device not clearing. Looks like his average speeds are 700-900 Kbps.
Hey guys remember that Palm themselves has said that the 750 is software upgradeable to Hsdpa. So, obviously the built in chipset can support hsdpa.
You know I could make a screen shot like that with photoshop and make it look like my T-Mobile MDA is that fast. I mean I know my phone is not HSDPA enabled but I could say I found it has all the hardware but it was turned off in the ROM. :-D Yeah I will believe it when someone I trust couch *Dave* couch does a review of the unit. Until then, I read and enjoy, but will leave my belief for a bit later.
Unbelievable for me..
Still extremely sceptical about this issue.
