Rumor: OQO not shipping? False!

I love it how some sites are so quick to blog about unconfirmed information just for gaining an extra visitor or two.. Today I saw on two sites the following on jkOnTheRun and on iCube.

"I know we told you that the OQO Model 02 started shipping the XP version of the UMPC but we have to request a do-over. The iCube blog is claiming that OQO is delaying the shipments of the XP devices for at least a couple of weeks. OQO says that events in Asia have resulted in the delays. No word if the Vista devices (slated to ship end of April) will be impacted as well."

What also frustrates me is that these sort of assumptions are very dangerous when posted on sites that can either create positive or negative buzz. So what did we do here at Mobility Today? We reached out to OQO directly and spoke with Bob Rosin, Senior VP of Marketing and Alliances and he had the following comment

No, that is false. But it is true that it may take 4-6 weeks for us to fulfill the backlog of orders so unfortunately lots of folks will still be waiting for their deliveries for some time. As you can imagine, the team is working to ramp as fast as possible.

Thanks for asking.

Bob

4 – 6 weeks….. HA, try 10 – 12. That is how long I have been waiting. I am really close to pulling the order. There are too many others coming out with alternatives. If you have a “hot” product, be ready for the volume. If you’re not ready for manufacturing, your competitors catch up.
yes..they are shipping ..
So Dave are the devices actually in route to purchasers? Rosen's "answer" to me sounded like obsfucation and worse than what iCube reported?
No problem -iPAQ- I find it very amusing whenever James doesn't get his review unit he loves to take pot shots at the vendors..

Look at the Flipstart he was so eager to tout a device that falls short of the DualCor cPC with only 512MB Ram and a 30 GIG hard drive! Remember how he ripped into DualCor about how low powered it was?
Why is it that all these site love jumping on the "OH NO ITS NOT SHIPPING" bandwagon? Crap cant that site just pickup the stupid phone?

Thanks Dave for reporting the truth! My order is staying at OQO!
