I've to say that probably they are not sure of the reliability of their software and machines so they have to use MACs to do the job right.
As mentioned before, they probably have to look into the technology of the Macs in synchronizations. Probably because MS cannot build a stable one from their own and need to know their incompetency.

The iPods are for personal use. Using Macs is a testab is an entirely different story. I dont think that would go over too well with upper mgmt, unless there was some strategic reason to do so.

They like Macs? Same reason why 90% of the Microsoft campus use iPods and not Zunes.

Then what explanation can you offer? ;)

Would it not be prudent to study the way the iTunes synchronises with the iPhone on a Mac since there are differences between that and the way iPhone syncs with PCs? In addition, what about the concept of creating an ActiveSync version that works on Macs?

The story was no longer about the WM iPhony, it was about Apple moving in like little ninjas ready to strike. No doubt tho Macs are setup to phone home images using stealth isight camera software. Not to steal technology... just for apple employees to laugh at Microsoft's inability to create anything without a blue-screen (of death).

Interesting point that the reporter clearly states this is a lab for Mobile.. Not the Mac/Office team..
