Dave - you mentioned that you take the sim card out of your iphone and put it in your 3g WM smartphone. Have you incurred any additional charges above the $20 iphone data plan? I just got an iphone but would like to use my treo 750 during the week for the exchange push mail and the iphone on nights weekends. Any thoughts?
Hahaha Jerry and Phys why can't you two just admit you are in love with each other already?!? Go get a nice cabin in the woods for the weekend and lets get this over with.
I have not heard much of anything about the Helio Ocean, or Helio service either. I know they are not as popular as other devices and services, but would be nice to give more attention to competitors overall rather than just two main competing companies.

JN, I had moved on after I agreed with netsyd's point that clearly other people besides netsyd were having issues with the Treo as well.

Your right to express your opinion was never contested by me or anyone else in here.
Wow, all you guys talk about is At&t phones. No update on the KS20 supposedly coming to Verizon and no mention of the VX10000. WOW.
Secondly, I was not referring to the post you made in this article. I was referring to your acknowledgement and validation of the claim that Dave made in the show begining at the time stamp of 2 min. and 43 sec. on Windows Media Player. You were happy to imply the magnitude of stability in your device there, and that was what I was referring to. That and the fact that, to put it quite simply and more importantly, not EVERYONE is having the same experience as you. The later being the actual point I made."

Wow, pretty sad. Nobody ever said everyone is having the same experience. As a matter of fact, I was responding directly to netsyd's original comment that "nice to see that the Treo has been horrible recently for everyone else too", which in itself is inaccurate.

I am extremely happy with my 750 and its stability, and I have every right to say so. It seems you have a problem with me saying that otherwise you would have left the topic alone after I made the following statement:

"I wouldn't say the Treo has been horrible at all. As a matter of fact, with the WM6 upgrade, it has been awesome. The issue with losing connectivity seems to be prevalent in WM6 and not necessarily a Treo-specific issue. Other than that, the 750 is the most rock-solid device that I have ever owned."

I think it you that needs to move on. Period. End of conversation.
Thanks for info Chris.

"Give me a break Phys.. (I think I will start that line with each post I make for you from now on)."

Whatever makes you feel better.

"I peruse many a Treo-750 forum and other sites that I know people are extremely happy with their WM6 Treos. Don't quote "empirical", scientific evidence, etc. As a matter of fact, on a Treo specific forum that I frequent, the amount of post WM6 issues have signifcantly dropped for those who did install the update.

One person my foot."

You actually have empirical evidence, it is just not statistically objective or significant. The reality is that this fact makes your claim simply an evidence based opinion which is no more valid than anyone elses evidence based opinion. It is clearly a mixed bag and barring the afforementioned statistical evidence no one is anymore correct in their opinion than anyone else.

Please, JN, get over yourself with this.

"Oh and btw, Phys, I said the most stable device "THAT I EVER OWNED"....Get the quote right."

Firstly, I was not quoting you. Now that we have that right...

Great to hear Dee! However, I know the various cabs that are deleted in that "clean" rom and they are mostly the music junk and such. Otherwise, there are no system processes or startup items that would otherwise make a device unstable.

I would do it, but since MY 750 is rock solid and I am too lazy to hard reset and re=install all my apps. :)
Oh and by the way, i'm using it unlocked on T-Mobile with push email enabled....
Jerry,

The Treo 750 has been the most stable device have owned as well since the WM6 update. I do not have any of the crap apps that ATT included in it. That might be the reason. A guy over at XDA posted an app that will allow you to access your Extended ROM and delete all the ATT apps. Once you do that, do a hard reset and voila- you have a completely unbranded WM6 Treo. He even posted another app that allows you to access your Extended ROM for storage.

I love my Treo since the update. I soft reset it like once a month. Not because it needs it, I just like to do it anyway. Something Windows Mobile has gotten used to doing. LOL...
The Tytn II will be launched on T-Mobile in the UK as the MDA Vario III, its also coming to Vodafone and Orange all within the next 4 weeks
Ok here is the update

The Dual Slider will be the Pantech C810 from AT&T.

The Low Cost Edge Device will be the SMT5700 - looks like a played down version of the Original "Q".

All the delays currently are due to both Microsoft and the Labs. Most of the delays in question are actually Microsoft issues, i.e. bugs that Microsoft has to provide and fixes for, after that they have to go to the vendor for integration and validation and then go to the lab for regression.
Oh and btw, Phys, I said the most stable device "THAT I EVER OWNED"....Get the quote right.
Give me a break Phys.. (I think I will start that line with each post I make for you from now on).

"I agree netsyd, just because one person is claiming that their device is the most stable device in the world does not mean that everyone is having the same experience."

Doesn't matter if you agree. I peruse many a Treo-750 forum and other sites that I know people are extremely happy with their WM6 Treos. Don't quote "empirical", scientific evidence, etc. As a matter of fact, on a Treo specific forum that I frequent, the amount of post WM6 issues have signifcantly dropped for those who did install the update.

One person my foot.

Hey Darren..how stable has your 750 been since applying the update?
I hope you are right Deemota, that would make the wait worth it, to get a Tytn II device with 3G! I bet the data package will blow the others away to.
LOL, great way to get at AT&T for tryin' ta screw consumers Dave!

It is my understanding that Nokia has the biggest market globaly for mobile phones.

There is waaaay more EDGE coverage here than over in UK. I think Apple should have just come out with 3G for the iPhone to begin with. That is my point.

I believe that the US is way behind Europe in per capita tech saavyness. Most people here just do not have the same technological education as in other countries.

Unfortunately, Apple does not stand behind all the hacking that everyone is doing and I do not agree that just because the device can be hacked means that the device is stable enough for the average person to use 3rd party apps on it. When Apple states that the device is secure enough for 3rd party apps to be used on it, then I will believe it is worth the money. Currently, as it is waranteed by Apple, it is nothing more than a better Sidekick. For some people that is good enough, and I don't disagree with personal preference. I do like how it looks, just bigger than I would want it since I am used to the one-handed capacity of the Wing (Memory issue is not a WM6 issue on this device, it is a problem with T-Mo's crap software).

"It was also really nice to see that the Treo has been horrible recently for everyone else too."

I agree netsyd, just because one person is claiming that their device is the most stable device in the world does not mean that everyone is having the same experience.

It sounds like you are really enjoying the Tytn II Dave, thanks for the input on it and attempting to balance the information.

Cris, is there a Tytn II version with T-Mobile over there?
Nice show once again. Engadget is reporting that the Kaiser is coming to T-Mobile. I went to the FCC links and browsed through the manual. It clealry does show TZones, T-Mobile wallpaper, and My Faves. The 2 more interesting things are the mention of UMTS as reported on Engadget, the one thing they didn't mention was that the manual mentions a PTT button. Very interesting, hmmmm.... Man im so psyched to think I might have 3G finally within a few months.
Dance....

I listened to the podcast just before and I guess the part you are speaking of is the ad spot for the MT store. Dave added that in for this podcast. :)

Well, welcome to the world of WM! If you get stuck on anything, just put up an SOS in the forums and I am sure that you'll get all the help you need. :)
JNGold...
Its fine, just sounds like im being sold something from an infomercial. The samples are good though.

Anyways, the show is great so dont take me too seriously on that.

I am currently going from good old Palm to WM, so dont joke, im scared. I have had it with Palm until they get there act together and blow WM and iPhone out of the water as I know they can.

Ps. I love the store layout! there are so many online stores that just dont get it, so because you (David) care about us, I will come to Mobility Today first.
Yep, probably the c810. A couple of sites have already leaked info that it would be coming to ATT.
Another fun show to listen to. Dave you mentioned a dual slider with WM SP on it. Do you guys think that is the dual slider pantech thats floating around engadget?
Dance.....

What's wrong with the current intro? :) I love that "I can't get this darn handheld to sync!" Must have been talking about a WM device. LOL!
Hay, just joined your crew. David, your video of the KAISER was my final decision maker. I generally do a lot of research on products that I buy, and you had the only demo that SHOWED what it does.

So now im enjoying your podcast. One thing though, can you hold a competition for a new intro to your podcast? Love the show; its like car talk for mobile geeks!
"It was also really nice to see that the Treo has been horrible recently for everyone else too."

I wouldn't say the Treo has been horrible at all. As a matter of fact, with the WM6 upgrade, it has been awesome. The issue with losing connectivity seems to be prevalent in WM6 and not necessarily a Treo-specific issue. Other than that, the 750 is the most rock-solid device that I have ever owned.
Thanks for the comments, i went to bed at 3.30am and couldnt sleep, still buzzing, got up at 5am and did a few hours work, now i am whacked!!!! But it was worth it
Good Stuff Guys.

Seriously one of the best you guys have done thus far.

I have to say I agree with 95% of everything you guys covered from the iPhone to the Windows Mobile goods parts and shortcomings. I think it was Steve that was talking about how good the iPhone is because its simplicity and that's pretty much how I felt about it. Its definitely not perfect, and it has a long way to go...

It was also really nice to see that the Treo has been horrible recently for everyone else too.

Thanks for the heads up on the release dates - good to know that AT&T is dragging their feet on the WM6 upgrades yet again!

Chris - Get some sleep :)
