MYiTablet is reporting that there are rumors going around that the totally irrelevant release of Leopard might also give way to the iPhone being opened up to third party developers for new applications. Like I said, the two are totally irrelevant, but neither one is worthy of a separate press conference, so I guess the combination of the two announcements could kind of make sense in that respect.
They aren’t going to open it up to just anyone, but well established companies, especially those well known for producing mobile apps are rumored to have been getting contacted by Apple recently. Its already fairly well known that EA is porting its entire line of iPod games to the new iPhone/iPod platforms so they can be loaded onto those devices, but there is rumored to be a lot more companies being approached.

Haha, Dave ;)
I am more interested in what your discoveries are about the Tilt compared to the Tytn II.
This is a rumor as clearly stated, but I do think that if Apple wanted to redeem themselves on this version of the iPhone, openning up the device would be a great way to do it. If (and that is a big If in my book) it happens with this version, I would say Kudos to them for finally getting around to it, even though this should have been done already.

This is certainly good news, if indeed it comes to fruition. Posting this from my new Touch. I used it today as my media device instead of my Treo. What a difference! When I had to use the Treo for some reason it was like going back to a kludge of an interface. Waiting for my bus today I chose to use the Safari browser using an open wifi connection rather than the Treo and Opera 8.65 using HSDPA.
Anyways, it is exciting to know that the time for iPhone and Touch users and 3rd party apps might soon be at hand.
