Windows Mobile 6 Update Now Available for U.S. Palm Treo 750 Customers

Free Update Adds Improved Calendar Functionality, Enhanced Email Support and HSDPA Capabilities for AT&T Customers

The Treo 750 currently is available in the United States on AT&T's 3G BroadbandConnect network, which is available in more than 200 major metropolitan areas and provides average download speeds between 600Kbps (kilobits per second) and 1,400Kbps. For those customers, the update will facilitate High-speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA) capability, allowing faster data-download speeds on 3G/UMTS/HSDPA networks(1) and access to AT&T Multimedia services: AT&T Music, CV (Video), and AT&T Mall.

"The enhanced security and productivity tools available in Windows Mobile 6 will allow people to be more productive with their Treo smartphones," said Tim McDonough, senior director of product management at Microsoft Corp. "The Windows Mobile 6 support of storage card data encryption, combined with the ability for IT departments to wipe data remotely if a device is lost, gives businesses the confidence to use Treos to accomplish critical business tasks."

Windows Mobile 6 combined with Exchange Server 2007 support is available out of the box and delivers a wide range of enhanced features, including the following:

-- Microsoft Direct Push Technology connection to email, calendar, contacts and tasks;(2)

-- Email enhancements such as HTML-formatted email messages; (2)

-- Ability to set an out-of-office message from the Treo smartphone; (2)

-- Mini-SD storage card encryption, password and PIN improvements, and remote data wipe; (2)

-- Ability to search for email messages on the Exchange server; (2)

-- Meeting request and scheduling conflict improvements; (2) and

-- Improved Calendar with Day-at-a-Glance bar.

The Treo 750 from AT&T is a five-band world phone with global 3G services that provides email, messaging, web browsing, and organizational capabilities.(3) The Treo 750 uses AT&T's industry-leading international footprint, which gives users the ability to make a phone call in more than 190 countries and access data applications in more than 135 countries. This all-in-one phone is a powerful business tool that delivers advanced communication capabilities and greater productivity with quick access to information and applications.

"Palm and Microsoft's alliance continues to bring the best mobile experience to Treo customers," said Brent Remai, vice president of business and consumer marketing, Palm, Inc. "The Treo 750's connection to Exchange Server without the need for extra servers and middleware, combined with our unique ease of use, makes the Treo a win-win solution for IT departments and business users as they seek the most of their smartphone."

woohoo, I installed it bypassing all the AT&T crap from the extended rom. Works great so far. better than the non branded version. Best of all, it has Office 6.1 already in the ROM.
My S/N didn't work either so luckily I was able to find the direct links. I also was using the Beta ATT WM6. I updated with the official ATT WM6 through the SD and everything completed just fine but when I checked the "Software" version it was still showing CHG-113. I then downloaded the ATT WM6 .exe install and installed it again from my PC this time and now the "Software" version has changed to ATT-225. Make sure you sure you check the Software to see if you're Treo correctly updated.
Here is the link for the "computer-free" version that just requires a card reader to dump the files onto a mini-sd to update. Don't know if this is the same as the link below, but it is what is used if you don't have a windows machine.

Use the link I posted below. No sn necessary as I was able to download the zip file. The zip is password protected, just press ok for passworrd.
When I tried to download the upgrade the Palm website indicates that the serial number on my Cingular (now ATT) Treo 750 is not valid. I hope that Palm/ATT address this ASAP.
If you are having S/N issues when attempting to download, here is the direct link:

Sweet Mickey! Thanks for sharing!
I was able to find a "Mac" version where you don't need to have Activesync to do the update. It's identical in the way you do the update to the leaked version. You copy some files to the minisd and you are off and running. I just did the update 2 days ago, so I don't have much on the phone yet. I am doing the update right now just for kicks.

I'm not anticipating anything new or different, but the updated version number being my primary reason for the update.
I am getting serial number problems when attempting to download.

I don't think there's many who can specifically tell the exact differences between the leaked and the "official". Of course the version numbers on the offical are later numbers.

I am fine with the leaked version.
OOPS, forgot, what are the differences from the leaked ROM to this one?
Jerry, were you ever able to get it loaded?
I just download the update all is ok. My Treo750 has Wm6 LeakVersion, and is running fine including Hsdpa, So i will keep the Att version for now in a safe place!!
Looks like some people (including myself) are getting invalid serial number messages when attempting to download the update.
