HTC Touch Diamond - Delay In Stock Delivery

I just received this via email and wasn't too shocked !! Looks like HTC is holding all distribution channels and have delayed the Diamond until June 23rd! According to Devicewire's website.

Due to circumstances beyond our control the estimated delivery date for the HTC Touch Diamond of the 9th June will not be met. Please rest assured that HTC have provided us with a new worse case scenario delivery date of 23rd June.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Please note, we will still be the first web site in the UK to offer 'Official UK HTC Stock' of the HTC Touch Diamond™, complete with a two year HTC warranty.

From what I am told HTC is holding shipment due to a ROM update that needed to be applied late in the process of distribution! Does this sound like a big OOOPS? I think so! What about the early adopter Diamond owners? My ROM has a date of 5/25/08 so I am not sure how new of a ROM is going to be released!!

Looks like everyone is putting there touch screen rendering out before the 3g iPhone. BGR has got spyshots of the BB Thunder!!!

It's clear from Malaysia and other markets that HTC is going full steam ahead with the Diamond release. Last week, Gizmodo and Engadget got their review units and reported similar issues as seen in Dave's review.

Based on all the info that's coming in, any supply disruptions are localized. It probably explains why Diamonds are still available from Expansys: they ship out of Hong Kong.

It also means that despite the Diamond issues uncovered by experienced reviewers, HTC is sitting pat for the moment.

I wonder if there was any "performance anxiety" going on in that "booth"! LOL!

Of course I am referring to the use of the Diamond! ;)

I am surprised there's not a sign in that HTC booth: FREE REGISTRY PERFORMANCE HACKS WITH EACH PURCHASE OF A DIAMOND!
Looks like the Htc Diamond is making quite a splash in Malaysia with Booth babes and all.

It's curtains for the Diamond then. Apple doesn't make half baked products. There softward platform's speed is there advantage and Microsoft's one size fits all platform will not be able to keep up.

My question is, why not develope the Zune more? Give it updates and show operators that they can keep up if they are allowed more freedom.
I'm not sure what the warranty status of a Diamond imported into the U.S. is. Your Diamond is probably under warranty in the U.K., my unlocked Touch is under warranty in Hong Kong. They're both "grey" in the U.S., unless the warranty card states otherwise. That may be the case with the Diamond. Would the authorized repair facility accept a shipment from outside the warranty region and agree to ship back outside the warranty region? I don't think either of us wants to find out. Maybe your dealer handles warranty repairs, I'm not sure Expansys does.

What I'm wondering, to the point of this thread, has a problem been discovered with the Diamond, a real show stopper, that we haven't seen yet?

I think HTC just wants to sell phones, we're the ones that want them to get it right.
It's strange, things should really fly on a fast device with even hardware graphics acceleration!

I thought the unterface looked laggy and had some jerky animations going on whn I some some real users testing the prerelease version.

For sure I thought this would be history on a release version.

Seems more like HTC issas more focused on stealing the thunder from the iPhone and WWDC instead of putting out a quality device first. A June 9th release date, come on, it's all about market and mind share which they are getting the bad end of even with their little innovations. Why do we even continue to do business with a company like HTC who doesn't care about the U.S.
Expansys are the ones that devicewire is saying are grey market phones and not covered under warranty
it looks like Expansys has stock. Who was affected by the delay?
Its hard for me to say.. In the USA the phone quality sucks. Really it does! I can honestly say this device has many bugs (i.e. the 3 second time out) that are extremely annoying! That is a major issue to me.. Maybe they want it right?
Hmmm...

There are still a lot Diamond's out there for sale: Expansys for instance: $795.95 in stock.

Dave, I thought you did a really good review and the issues you uncovered with the Diamond are real. However, did you really see anything that would stop HTC from shipping the device?

What I saw with the lag and other issues are items that HTC can afford to sit on until if and when the background noise of complaints gets loud enough.

Oh I hope that will do it!!! Its a shame its so crappy on AT&T too!
lets hope there's a newer rom to speed up TF3D!!
Definitely sounds like they were so eager to get this out before the Iphone, but they definitely slipped. Even with a ROM update, it will probably still require tweaks and everything else.
