iPhone 3g issues that need to be fixed immediately!

I have been pretty quiet about the iPhone except for my editorial on the poor implementation of Exchange for the iPhone. Well now after using it for almost a month I see on YouTube other people having the same exact issues as me. Yesterday I swapped my iPhone out for a new one and it was working fine until last night. What makes me think is that could the iPhone be producing a rather large error log that is causing the terrible pausing issue? Also the handshake from Edge to 3G vice versa is the worst implementation I have ever seen on the phone. So bad that I will not turn on 3G until Apple sends us a much needed update. Take a look at these videos and tell me if you have experienced them too?

Well Apple tell us why you are ignoring your customers? These problems won't go away unless you wake up and acknowledge the problem and let us know when it will be fixed!!

Xda modifications don't seek carrier or OEM approval and in general are not supported by ones carrier. I'm also going to bet that you don't have a carrier customized version of the Diamond. And that update is only for code from HTC, not for changes from Microsoft.

Microsoft had made about 10 updates for Windows Mobile 5 when it was their's primary phone OS. But not all devices received the full accumulation of changes. To see a list of the updates that Microsoft had released for Windows Mobile 5 see this page. http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/articles/wm-aku-en.shtml
A prime example of an update that was commonly excluded (in the USA) was Internet Connection Sharing. That feature could cut into the data revenues for some carriers and thus is commonly excluded or hidden.

I get the contacts delay problem. (cant scroll right away) The keyboard wont pop up very quick when I try to search search, and pressing letters wont make anything appear for 2-5 seconds. (then all entries type on the screen "catch up" if I've hit a few letters) I have over 1200 contacts though, does that make a dif? I also dont like the hand off from 3G to Edge as I walk from one end of my loft to the other. I have to say the Treo 750 was worse on this handoff, but the iphone is around 50% better or so. I wonder why the handoff is so bad from edge to 3g? Phone calls are dropped at times since I dont have full 3G coverage in my entire house front to back. (long skinny condo/loft)
I've had my iPhone 3G for almost two weeks now, let me see if I can go down the list.

1. If I'm not careful with one-handed thumb gestures, I see lag like in the video. Being careful or going two-handed with my index finger, I just don't see it.

2. I've been using my iPhone pretty heavily and have never seen lag period with the virtual keyboard.

3. Did the test: 673 kbps down / 82 kbs up / 357.75 ms latency. I repeated a few times just to make sure. One thing that I do find is the 3G speed is very dependent on phone (antenna) orientation.

4. Haven't see it.

5. It seems like the thumb gesture issue again, so I have to say no. If you hold the phone so that more of the tip of the thumb contacts the screen than the side of the thumb, the issue completely disappears.

6. The biggest issue I have so far is with AT&T coverage, some places I frequent like the local VA hospital have no coverage at all. My T-Mobile coverage never has problems in these areas. Is antenna orientation sensitivity and spotty coverage adding up to poor 3G service?
I don't know about Microsoft or HTC being that slow. Within 45 days of having my diamond, HTC issued a ROM update that fixed the lag issue, and gave me 850mhz band. Actually it was quicker than that if you count XDA developers hacked ROM's.

It's not that Microsoft takes a long time to fix bugs and get updates out, it's that the process of those updates going through the OEM and then the carrier can take a while and some times may not make it to an end user at all.
I am having issues with signal strength on regular basis. I have been with AT&T since November of last year and haven't seem these issues with 3g and coverage until this phone. I agree with one of the comments though when the phone foes work, it is amazing. This keyboard for one is something that I have gotten very quick at using, especially in the landscape mode.
Sounds like the Iphone is not perfect, just like WM. I think the difference is Apple will probably fix these issues with a software update within a few months where Microsoft would take a few years.
Yes, Yes, No, No, No, No (Yes only to the first 2.) Never ever seen the others.
Contacts takes a few seconds to load, yes, but it's not like it's broken.
The laggy keyboard is something I have only experienced a few times and it's followed by the web browser crashing. But the web browser crashes a lot.
Over all, though, I experience very few and infrequent problems.
I have experienced a few of these issues as well. It's definitely not just jailbroken iPhones.

A lot seems to stem from the 3rd party apps. With my wife's iPhone (Only 2 3rd party apps) NEVER has any of these issues at all. My iPhone with only a few apps, I see a few crash's of applications, slow SMS keyboard (Only twice), and at times signal strength is very low (NO BARS) but I still receive calls without issue.

Apple should offer some information to when these issues will be fixed. Still not as many issues as I had with Windows Mobile, but it's the iPhone - it should be near "perfect"!

No this has nothing to do with Jailbreaking. Mine isnt and I experienced each and every one of these issues.
I am wondering if this is affecting only jailbroken phones or unbroken ones as well.
