It was very interesting listening to your show. I had posted last week that it was rumored that Apple could access the iPhone 3G and remove apps. I was, as usually, reprimanded by the fan club boys, that it was not true. Then this past week Steve Jobs admitted to this ability and justified it as Apple's right and responsibility to remove any apps they sell. When I heard this, I thought that I was listening to some warped thinking by a person who has been overwhelmed by the power bestowed upon him. Hey Steve which part about private ownership do you not understand? The iPhone, when I purchase it and own it, is mine and not yours. Purchased apps are mine and not yours after you take my money. Where else in the business world does this happen? Car purchases? Computer purchases? Televisions? Where???? Dave is right. This leaves a very uncomfortable feeling with regards to individual rights and I think that this product should go unsupported. Return it, sell it, and don't purchase it and then lets see what Jobs will do. By the way Mike, how does this compromise your civil libertarian views?
I think I've figured out why one is able to see other devices on the Sprint Network using Resco Explorer.

It took some time, but I wrote a program that would scan a block of addresses and sent out NetBios requests over UDP port 137. Doing so results in the device sending it's name back.

For those that are curious I plan to post the full details back at the discussion thread listed above.
