3G Tethering Coming to iPhone

Gizmodo is reporting that AT&T has confirmed what was once rumor. Laptop tethering is coming to the iPhone. At the Web 2.0 Summit today, AT&T Mobility President/CEO Ralph De La Vega has said that wireless modem tethering will be available "soon." That's all we know for now, but more details as they come in, of course

You can check out the complete story over at Gizmodo

Special thanks to Stonewall for letting me know about this.

A very interesting development - You can read the original Technologizer article here:

http://technologizer.com/2008/11/06/att-tethering-coming-to-the-iphone-soon/

This may be in the "well they're doing it anyway, so we may as well charge them for it" category. It'll be interesting to see how AT&T monetizes iPhone tethering while at the same time placing restrictions to prevent their 3G network from a data overload headache. I wonder if the tethering app will enable the iPhone to be a hotspot.
