Video: Blackberry Storm speed test....

After we finished our review of the Blackberry Storm we received a ton of messages asking us if our Storm was laggy? During our initial tests we did not experience huge lag issues whatsoever. We understand that Verizon will be putting out an update on Monday but we thought we should throw this out there before they do. We are running v4.7.0.65 and platform 4.0.0.76 which is what majority of us are running. So you tell us what you think after you watch this video...

also would have been nice to see the storm on a FULL WEB SITE load compared to the iphone with 3g and wifi side by side.

just a thought.

love the podcasts btw.
compared to the bold, it is laggy, but a great start for the storm. maybe with updates it can become a bit more of a iphone adversary. the typing is a bit limited on how fast you can get due to how your fingers have to react to the tapping.
Interesting since I havent used another phone for over 10 days.. :) So as I stated before I have been using this phone longer than many now..

Also given review units that are sent back.
That's low and condescending Dave. I didn't expect that from you. Personally, I take more from the people who are fans of the device or platform and use it in the day-to-day as opposed to reviewers that move from device to device and are given review units.
Clearly if anyone has used the phone for longer than a majority its me and I posted a clear and honest review.

Your post to another forum is based on users who are of no credible source and or proof they even have a unit..

For people wanting to know from owners what the device is like, check this out:

From a guy on Crackberry.com (he's had the device for about a week):

"been using the storm for a week now, you might as well read my other two threads about first hands-on experience and my first days with the new phone. As of today I got kinda used to it, still typing fast is like pissing up a rope. I got really quick as quick as one can be on this lame click-screen that is nice to have for making your way through menus but sucks for typing purposes. I'm like three times faster typing as it takes the screen to come up again so that's still a down for me. It also has fairly plently of issues... Get your phone into landscape mode and press the green phone key.. it takes forever to fathom that it has to tilt the screen again since the phone screen is locked up in portrait mode which i prefer but still it takes too long. Last night i was using aim in landscape when a call came in that i accepted and the phone crashed lol... when using an app or typing in landscape and then getting a call, it does really weird things, sometimes it freezes, crashes or but messes up the screen one part portrait the other landscape.. apparently that's more input than it can take. Furthermore i hate how long it takes to run up the camera and take a shot.. def no snapshooting in kodak moments.. i like how snappy the phone is scrolling through your contacts but it often get's laggy going from one submenu to another.. like the dialing screen, to history to contacts, not really what i call a smooth transition. I might return it next week actually.. it has some great features, some really sweet perks but after all I rely on speediness, i cannot accept it taking so long to open up random things while pacing around like a hurricane myself"
What are people reporting as "laggy"? It seems just response as my 8130 "Pearl".

Now this is laggy:

Still telling myself... don't go to the Verizon store. Don't go. You don't *need* it. Don't touch it. Be strong! ;-)
Umm yeah I met with RIM and VZW on Friday and they told me.
"We understand that Verizon will be putting out an update on Monday "
Does anyone know where this information came from? No offence to anyone, it's just there is a still a lot of missinformation floating around about this phone... just trying to get confirmation... thanks
Thanks Phys that does say alot coming for you. Also the only gripe is the lack of exchange support.. Sigh.. But other than that its a homerun
It is not laggy at all. I went to a Verizon store tonight and worked with the demo that they have on display. It was sporting the .61 ROM and was as fast if not faster than the iPhone.

People who are reporting issues with laggyness are either FOS (Full Of Sh*t), or are simply dealing with a lemon or bad ROM version. Neither of which is unrectifiable either with the upcoming ROM update or an exchange.

This thing is a Grand Slam in my book, and for those who know me, those words do not come out easily when I recommend technology.

I back Dave 100% regarding the performance of this device and the overall review he did.
Not as fast as it could be, but I wouldn't call that laggy.
Very nice...doesn't seem that laggy as some claim it is.
