EXCLUSIVE: Falcom USB Edge cards for ultraportables

Providing voice and high speed data to ultraportable computers!!

For the past few months I have had the pleasure to use innovative cards made by Falcom Wireless. Two weeks ago we gave you an exclusive look at the Franklin Wireless USB EVDO card and today we will look at Falcom Wireless cards. The two cards you will see are the Samba 75 GPRS/EDGE and the Falcom SAMBA GSM/GPRS USB cards. These cards do EXACTLY as what they are stated to do, during my time I never had a problem whatsoever. I also would not recommend using the Falcom Samba card as your only voice solution as it will deplete your battery at an accelerated rate.

Samba

The FALCOM SAMBA 75 is a Plug-and-Play, compact, light-weight, wireless modem that provides EDGE, GPRS and GSM connectivity for laptop and ultraportable computers. What also is great about this card is that it also provides the end user the capabilities to plug whichever SIM card they currently have a contract with.

The FALCOM SAMBA card can send and receive data by GSM and GPRS. It features GPRS multislot class 10 and supports the GPRS coding schemes CS-1, CS-2, CS-3 and CS-4. It supports voice, SMS, FAX as well as offers a choice of seven ring tones/melodies. The SAMBA modem can be easily controlled by using AT commands for all kind of operation. So for the mobile warrior this provides another voice solution when needed something we haven't seen to date

While it might deplete your battery, that is a great secondary line solution if you are going to use it for a backup!
Now that is cool!
