Sena Has You Covered

Formed in 1999, Sena Cases is a luxury mobile device accessory designer offering classy, stylish protective leather cases for today's most popular mobile devices including phones, MP3 players, PDAs, and more. The unique cases not only offer an upscale, quality appearance, but also provide exceptional functionality.

I have been waiting breathlessly for Sena to start shipping their leather cases for the Treo 800w. After all, I've used Sena to encase my Centro, my Treo 700p, and my Treo 650 before that. I like keeping my mobile device in a case, and Sena has a wide enough selection to please almost anyone.

The first thing you notice when you surf onto Sena's website is that none of the cases pictured is the same color. Indeed, only one of the cases you see on this first screen is a traditional black case. You are immediately met by red, pink, and a unique combination of red and black. Sena's colors are what initially attracted me. They are rich, varied, and vibrant. They range from classic subdued black and tan, to chocolate brown and right on to deep red, soft pink, and seafoam green.

Each Sena case arrives in a gift box. Inside the box you find a drawstring pouch protecting your new case.

Since many of Sena's cases have an optional belt clip, the belt clip and hardware are also found in the gift box. The belt clip itself is nothing special: two inches of molded plastic with a spring release. Since the clip is optional, Sena also includes a gromet to attach to the back of the case, two screws, and a tool to screw the gromet into the back of the case.

My choice for the Treo 800w is Sena's red Magnet Flipper case. Sena's cases are custom cut to each device, and as you can see from the following photos, you can access everything you need. Having used Sena cases in the past, I can tell you that as with any good leather product, they take some wear to better fit your device. The top is open to allow you access to both the mute switch and the WiFi button. Cut-outs on the sides and bottom give you access to the volume rocker, power plug, IR port, and SD door. I'm not really sure why they included access to the SD door since you really need to remove the back cover to open that door, but it's nice to know Sena included it. There is also a cutout on the back to access the camera lens and rear speaker.

I love the design of the Magnet flipper. The flip portion folds down, rather than up to flap against your head. (I've never quite understood flip up cases.) Two strong magnets nestled beneath the leather hold the flipper closed to protect the screen. It's padded to further protect your screen, and is soft on both the inside and outside. Once the leather has been broken in, it swings easily up to close securely when you end a call. Inside the flipper are two slots for spare micro SD cards, and a larger slot where you can store business cards.

I must admit that when I first opened the box I was disappointed. The lower part of the Magnet Flipper for the Treo 800w has a feature that was not present on any of my previous Sena cases. A clear plastic screen covers the bottom portion of the case directly above where the keyboard fits. Notice that it is so thin and clear you can't even see it in the photos. Fortunately, it is so thin that it doesn't impede using the keyboard either. Nobody could be more surprised than I was, and so far I am really enjoying this feature.

Quality leather, impeccable quality, incredible quality, and a variety of styles to fit any and all your mobile devices. Sena cases average $40-50, but if you want a quality case with pizazz, you can't go wrong with a Sena.

Great job Alli. Sena makes a quality product at an affordable price.
Fantastic review Alli!!! Truly enjoyed it. Thank you for contributing it!
Nice review, Alli. I, too, have had several Senas now and find I prefer their consistent quality over other less expensive cases.
