CES 2010 first impressions

My first impression of CES was incredible to say the least. It wasn't even the first official day and I was lucky enough to be invited to an event titled the "Digital Experience." This took place in a single ballroom hall at the Venetian Hotel. Greeting you at the entrance were women in leopard body paint. Before you ask me for pictures I was not prepared besides they did have bathing suits on not just paint. Sorry to disappoint you all. Anyway, many of the bigger web sites were on location to cover the event, which I quickly learned was the cool place to be. Some of the new items that really interested me were from Griffin technology, which included a dual charger for your vehicle. The best way to explain this is a cigarette adaptor that had an additional port on top for another plug to fit into so more then one iPhone could be charged at once. The next item was a sleek charger that uses batteries to charge your device. It was small device that felt great in the hand. Both these items should be available in the 2nd quarter of 2010, pricing TBD.

Next on my list were some great innovations from a little known company competing with the recent favorite Power Mat. They are called Wild Charge and they bring to the table a much different take on matt charging. Not limited to 1,2, or 3 pads you can simply place your device in their much sleeker cases and throw it on the mat. In addition to the mat itself they have a taken it a step further and integrated a desktop stand, which allows you to have a place to put larger devices like netbooks while they charge. Such a great idea and I only see it growing from there. Stay tuned for my from this ever growing company.

Among all this new technology something older has been given a new twist and is being brought to you by Sennheiser. They have a large number a new headsets coming to market this year, but the one that sticks out on my mind is a pair of workout related gear. Some of you, like myself, always have issues with my headphones falling while you work out or simply doing things out and about. Well, in theory this should be eliminated with the innovation make to these headsets. By adding what was described to me as shark fins to the in ear sets allows for a snug fit thus holding them in more securely. Look for my video review of these items on YouTube when I get a sample to try out.

As the first unofficial day as ended I look forward to the show floor tomorrow and I hope the innovation continues this week. This huge event will literally take days to walk around so look for mostly video from me on YouTube. I am excited to see what the companies I have dealt with last year have to bring. So stay tuned for more updates and I hope bigger news.
