Ummm...Cingular's network is based on UMTS and HSDPA. HSDSP is not a hardware specific item...UTMS is. Similar to GPRS and EDGE. When the first Hermes 100 devices were being released, HTC mentioned that each would be upgradable to HSDPA by a software (ROM) update.

However, at this point of the game, do you think that Cingular would release a device that wouldn't be able to take FULL advantage of their network? Of course not.

Don't worry. The 8525 will have HSDPA.
Hey JNGold - doesn't the phone need a HSDPA radio?
Any phone that has UMTS can be upgraded via software to include HSDPA.

Basically HSDPA is to UMTS as EDGE is to GPRS.

You can rest assured if Cingular offers the phone, I will have HSDPA on it. I don't think Cingular would sell a phone that couldn't take FULL advantage of it's network.

HTH!

Thanks.
Dave - What's the deal between UMTS and HSDPA. I know that HSDPA is much faster 3.5 G compared to UMTS. Cingular says that this is a UMTS/HSDPA phone but it only has a UMTS radio. I saw your review on You tube. Pretty cool. My desire is to have HSDPA for smoother slingbox capability and to be able to have phone and internet capability. I have emailed Mobility Today several times about this situation but haven't gotten any answers yet. Please help. The only WM5 phone that has HSDPA capability is the unreleased HTC trinity and the Samsung SGH-i600. PLEASE CLARIFY!!!!!!!!
Too bad it doesnt have GPS
Jerry this is from a Cingular site so it could be a typo..
Not so sure some of this information is correct. First, the picture of the device looks a bit dated.

Second, it the specs mention mini SD. I am aware of only Micro-SD cards being used in TyTN-like devices.
