HTC Touch Diamond Coming To America

Dave is going to be one happy camper. Now he will be able to talk to other people in the U.S. who purchase the Touch Diamond.

Phone Scoop is reporting that documents seen on the FCC site reveal some details about a new version of the HTC Touch Diamond. The Touch Diamond was first announced by HTC in May. The original version did not support U.S. 3G spectrum bands. This new version seen on the FCC site includes WCDMA 850/1900, and also confirms Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and Wi-Fi. HTC has not said when this variant of the Touch Diamond will become available. HTC announced a CDMA variant of the Diamond earlier this month.

You can check out the FCC filing here and head on over to Phone Scoop to get the rest of the low down

This is good news, but I still have to say the Diamond's launch has been one of the worst ever. Why not give it official full band support right out of the starting gate? Why not get such a device through FCC certification sooner rather than later?

Isn't putting phones that fully utilize the capabilities of the hardware into the hands of reviewers and users right away a good thing? Maybe HTC has a stake in giving XDA something to do...
I'm really starting to get the itch for that Omnia....
That's cool the Diamond is finally coming our way. It's not a device for me though, I need a memory card slot and a keyboard. I am still debating between a slider like the Xperia X1 and the Touch pro, or a front facing keyboard with a touchscreen. But that day is still a long way away.
Yes, we all knew that the US Diamond was coming.

I was the only one, however, who called it coming with US HSDPA 3G, and Quad band US EDGE. Everyone else was saying it was only going to be on CDMA or possibly on Quad band EDGE due to the programability of the EDGE radio chipset.

So much for giving credit where credit is due.

Anyway, I am not interested in the Diamond for myself. It is probably going to be either the X1 or the Touch Pro for me.
Well, we all knew the US Diamond was coming. They say patience is a virtue. It also helps, that you are enjoying your current device. :)
This story came out on Engadget-Mobile yesterday morning too:

Not that I called this when the European Diamond came out....but I did. ;)

Dave might not be too happy though Steve, as he still won't be able to utilize 3G on his Diamond.
