MiLi Power Pack for iPhone

The folks at PhoneSuit.com have recently introduced an extended battery for the iPhone and iPhone 3G - the MiLi Power Power Pack. It offers extended battery life for the iPhone at the expense of an increased profile (but adding an 1800 mAh battery!).

While similar to other battery products for Apple's flagship (and only) phone, the Power Pack includes a couple of very useful features that may appeal to users who have multiple devices:

  • Allows you to charge the power pack (and the phone) using a mini USB power adapter
  • Includes a USB out for charging other devices
  • Allows you to sync through iTunes using mini USB

If the MiLi is connected to a USB power source, consumption comes first from this power source. When the MiLi is not being charged, the iPhone's power consumption comes from the MiLi battery first until the MiLi's battery is less than 5 percent. It then automatically switches to the internal iPhone battery. The iPhone battery power source is always used last so it can maintain its maximum charge. It includes LED indicators to show the remaining battery life so you always know how much charge you have left.

It comes in several colors to complement 2G or 3G iPhones, and is interchangeable between them.

We have a review unit on its way to us, so look for a full review of the Power Pack once I receive it and have a chance to put it through its paces in my everyday usage.

Would be a lot better if I could just flip off the back cover and put in a bigger battery! The sad thing is everyone is going to have to buy one of these eventually. iPhone 3G hasn't been out that long and I'm already noticing a drop in battery between charges. Any other phone, I would have just purchased a new battery by now.
