Looking for an enhanced iTunes version of this weeks podcast? Well we have it right here. If you aren't familiar with what enhanced podcasts are. Enhanced podcasts are AAC-encoded audio files with additional time-based "chapter" data inside them, such as images or URLs that are programmed to appear at a certain time as the audio plays. They're like slideshows synchronized to music (or any other audio). The formats for these files are M4A, M4B, or M4P. They also must be played in iTunes specifically. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

I just listened to the podcast. I thought that you made a lot of good points about HP. It seems like marketing has taken over where cutting edge innovation should be. I think, however, you should try to keep the emotion and frustration out of the podcast/website in favor of being more objective. It came through pretty strong.

HP four words..... Same old Same old.
HP three words..... Missed the Boat.
HP two words...... Old News.
HP one word........ Late.
It's a shame really, but I feel they have been left way, way behind. Their own fault for sure!

Similar sentiments about HP over at pocketpcthoughts. So, it's not just your/our frustration. Dave to finally answer your question about the Taiwanese company, I was referring to HTC maybe being the manufacturer of the cPC, not expecting you to be able to answer...just hoping

Dave, I am glad to see that you are no longer putting up with the BS that HP has been putting out. I have long seen this coming on every front, and have made a point of mentioning it as much as possible. A lot of people mistook that for just bashing, but I was only pointing out the facts in an attempt to inform, enlighten and hopefully overt any misspent investments in technology.
HP, fully capable of doing much better, is and has been slacking in the mobile device industry. Leaving people with poor customer support, customer relations, product marketing and even internal communication.
I mean, really, where would most of the people be with the HP products, if it was not for your site and sites like this. HP owed and still owes you a debt of gratitude for what you have done for them, and when I heard what they were putting you through on this podcast, I, unfortunately was not that surprised at their behaviour.
Great podcast, and kudos for standing your ground with them!

This podcast was one that I have been working on for quite a bit.. HP has continually thrown their boxing gloves at me and this site many of times. Fortunately I knew they didnt have a leg to stand on or could even come after me for breaking the hw6500, hw6900 and even the rw6800 photos we first broke. I will alway protect those who share the things we all would like to see!!

I hear ya Dave. My father was one of the original first 900 employees that joined Compaq not too shortly after it first formed. I have grown up playing around with many compaq products. I still remember when my father first brought home a "portable" computer that was the size of a suitcase and weighed about 50 lbs. Compaq also released an mp3 player model PA-1 that used mmc(replaced later by SD) cards that provided me with years of enjoyment. Compaq also set a benchmark for the pocket pc with the ipaq 3600 series. When Hp bought Compaq the innovation produced by Compaq was lost (along with HP profits). My father was laid off this past December after close to 20 years of being with Compaq/Hp. I definitely think this company is "out of touch" with consumers as evidenced by their reference to "smartphones." This podcast hit close to home for me. Just thought I would let you know.

Really interesting podcast - Thanks Dave - I also wonder what HP are thinking - I'm not surprised that you are ranting about them.
Thanks for mentioning our 'afternoon in the chatroom' - it was a disappointment that we couldn't let many people in, but it was obvious from the pageviews that there is a very high interest. Steve did such a great job with redirecting the prize such that everyone still had a chance of winning the bluetooth keyboard.

Jfl I bought the two HP devices myself. Every HP product I received from HP had to be returned.. Dell lets the other enthusiasts keep the unit but if HP did let me keep it, it would have been given away.. I am not certain of your question about Taiwanese company?
|
|
Sort of strange to hear you rant about HP (all of which I totally agreed with) and then end the podcast giving away the HP bluetooth keyboard and promising to give away the 3700 (which I totally want). It is painful to see a company that used to get it, as evidenced by your 2 giveaways, self destruct before our very eyes...and now that I've buttered you up, given the way you spoke about a certain Taiwanese company, I'm wondering if that's where a certain highly anticipated device with 2 operating systems is being manufactured? As we speak? Sorry, I know you can't answer that but I couldn't resist trying/speculating...great podcast Dave
