OQO Model 02 Week 1 Impressions

Well I am truly loving my OQO Model 02 w/vista. First I have to tell you this baby only scores a 1.0 on the Vista grade sheet but for what I use it for it is just fine. Users should note you aren't going to want to load Photoshop or any video editing software because it just isn't geared for this type of usage. Right now I have loaded

  1. Slingplayer
  2. Office 2007 Ultimate
  3. Auslogics Disk Defrag - Free and works with Vista and it is quick!
  4. Skype

The unit powers up within 1:30 seconds and I can come out of sleep within 3 seconds. Yes, I am running prettly lean but for what I need it for this works just fine.. So far I am not too keen on battery life as I am only getting 2 hours on the standard battery. I think OQO needs to drop the price of the extended battery $199.00.. I also noticed you will see a significant battery drain running sidebar widgets so that definitely is a no go. Inking has been ok so far but I am noticing some Wacom issues with the zoom feature which OQO will need to address soon. What happens is if you are in native resolution and then goto a larger res your pen will be totally out of calibration until you go back to native..

Remember I am being very critical with the OQO and quite honestly I am really impressed with the unit so far. The screen is absolutely beautiful and the unit is an engineering masterpieece.. Keep posted as I will continue to post my usage senarios as days go by..

i have been thinking of the OQO and the HTC x7500 and the battery issue is keeps me moving to the 7500. in my work, i do need to use fillable pdf forms and i am still not sure if the 7500 will do that. but everything else seems fine. i will always have a laptop, but the online feature and now with the improved WM6 remote desktop, i think i will try it out.
