Blackjack supports voice dial.. Official..

Well a little digging on Samsung's site and a call to a few people reveals some good information. Blackjack owners should keep their eyes open for a soon to be released voice dialing software.

What Bluetooth Profiles Are Supported On My BlackJack (SGH-i607)?

The BlackJack (SGH-i607) handset supports the following Bluetooth profiles:

Headset Profile (HSP):

HSP is the most popular Bluetooth profile because it connects the phone to a wireless Bluetooth-enabled headset. When an incoming call is received, a tone can be heard through the headset, instead of the phone. The call can then be received by pushing a button on the Bluetooth headset. You can increase or decrease the volume by using the volume key on the side of the phone.

Hands-Free Profile (HFP):

The HFP Bluetooth profile allows a connection from the phone to a wireless Bluetooth-enabled car kit. Incoming calls ring to the hands-free headset or device. Calls can be received by pressing a button on the Bluetooth headset or device. As for dialing, four functions are supported: recent call dial, voice dial, speed dial, and number dial. You can increase or decrease the volume by using the volume key on the side of the phone.

Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP):

A2DP, also known as “Bluetooth Stereo Profile”, allows stereo quality audio to be streamed from a media source to a connected device. Unlike the HSP, which does not allow for continuous audio streams, the A2DP allows reception of a streaming audio signal from the media source to Bluetooth stereo headsets.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP):

The FTP Bluetooth profile enables users to transfer files from their handset to and from other devices. The FTP profile includes support for getting folder listings, changing to different folders, getting files, putting files, moving files and deleting files.

Object Exchange Profile (OBEX):

OBEX is the Bluetooth transfer profile that defines data objects and a communication protocol two devices can use to exchange those objects. OBEX Bluetooth profile enables users to transfer files from their handset to other devices. The OBEX profile includes a folder-listing object, which is used to browse the contents of folders on a remote device.

Basic Printing Profile (BPP):

This Bluetooth technology functions as a printing connection to a printer from the handset. BPP allows handsets to send text, e-mails, vCards, or other items to a printer.

Dial-Up Networking Profile (DUN):

The DUN Bluetooth profile provides a standard to access the Internet and other dial-up services. The most common scenario is accessing the Internet, from a laptop, by connecting through a mobile phone, wirelessly. DUN is a Bluetooth technology that functions as a wireless data cable, connecting a PC or PDA to a network through the handset.

Great information. But if anyone would know when this update for voice dial will be available from Samsung? Are we talking weeks? months? Thanks
Please.. MORE INFO!! I'm near the end of my trial period and will return if I can't get voicedial. Without it, I have to enter a security pin each time I use the phone. :( Company required which is fine, but I should be able to make calls without accessing my email.
Do you have a link to this information on the Samsung site?
My take is that the headset and handsfree profiles are supported by the BJ's BT stack. The faq question most likely refers to the lack of a voice dial solution from the factory. If this story is accurate, then the BJ will have the application necessary to perform voice dialing from a BT headset.
How does this reconcile with the OTHER Samsung FAQ on this issue:

"Does My BlackJack (SGH-i607) Support Voice Dialing?

No, while the BlackJack (SGH-i607) handset does feature a voice recorder, the handset does not have any configurable options available for voice dialing."

Dave, have you noticed what the battery life is like now. Are you having to use the extended battery, if so does it bring too much change to the bulkiness of the device?
Hmmm, interesting!
Ok, now we are talking (no pun intended). Is this software offered by Samsung or is it a 3rd party application?

If it works (hopefully not voice tags, but I won't be that picky), then the Blackjack will be mine. :)
