Slingplayer for iPhone rejected?

According to BoyGenius the long awaited Slingplayer for iPhone could have been rejected! From what their tipster states, "Some feared it might happen, others thought it would pass with flying colors, but unfortunately we've got a tip that sheds some light on the situation. This was from an anonymous tipster and we're posting it for information sake. We've already reached out to Sling Media PR, so in the meantime, while we wait, here's what we've been told:

The application (SlingPlayer for iPhone) conformed to every single Apple guideline for applications and user interfaces, etc. The reason it was denied (actually denied today if our tipster is to be believed) was because of an executive decision on Apple's end. AT&T had asked that the app be rejected due to worries about bandwidth consumption (this doesn't make too much sense given that other devices has been using SlingPlayer Mobile for a long time...).

Sling Player for iPhone will be released. I could see a Wifi Limitation like Skype, but I also see a 0 day hack allowing you to run over 3G (Just like Skype). I guess I would be more upset with Sling for stating it will only run on the "New" Slingbox hardware, without a real reason why, I will be ditching my slingbox altogether.

Personally, I would rather see EyeTv offering streaming LIVE TV from the Mac. EyeTv does do streaming of your recorded shows, but not live TV YET!
While it is good the "rumour" has been debunked (For now PartI). It doesn't detract from the fact AT&T have a say in what goes in the App store. Like most iPhone / Sling Player owners it would be great to get this as an App but I for one have given up on the Apple / AT&T stuff. As previously stated I'll stick with RIM. I won't be going back - I'm in the UK so it's less frustrating than what you guys suffer the other side of the pond!
See this thread: Slingplayer rumor debunked. Hooray!!!

So a US carrier denies an App being sold globally, that sucks big time. I won't be renewing my iPhone contract with o2 here in the UK. Apple can go do one. Fortunately like bartletts4 I also have the BB Bold and that is my system of choice from now on - and I can have Sling Player on it.
Possibly true...

The last thing AT&T wants to do is give the impression that its network is stressed. What better way than to have its partner announce that it killed the Slingplayer.

Still, don't forget that the Apple App store isn't an open market. As a developer, you can do everything right and still have your app rejected if Apple or AT&T feels it threatens current or potential future, however remote, revenue streams.
Not true. See BGR for update.
Worried about bandwidth? AT&T only enforces violations of the 5gb cap. Underneath that, they can't control how much data we chomp down. Of course, AT&T may be worried they don't have enough capacity to meet anticipated demand from this summer's releases.

Should the question be whether AT&T is writing checks its body can't cash?
If true, this is bull and is just another reason for me to use my BB Bold full time.
