Video Review: Windows Live Search Mobile Beta

Exclusive: Windows Live Search for Mobile Beta

What it is

Windows Live Search Beta for mobile devices brings the power of Windows Live Local Search to your cell phone. Now you can get the answers you need no matter where you are. Need to find the nearest pizza place? Directions to a friend’s house? Check traffic en route to the office? No problem...it’s all there.

What it can do for you

The Windows Live Search Beta for mobile application gives you fast access to local search and maps, driving directions, and even local traffic information. When you get your search results, you can click to call the phone number of the place you found, or even look at a satellite photo (on some phones) to find the best parking nearby!

Service requires a J2ME-capable or Windows Mobile phone and a data plan for use...the service itself is free, but your carrier may charge you for data usage.

Download your copy NOW

A big Thank You goes out the the Windows Live Team for giving me
the opportunity to test drive this service! You guys rock!

"what do you do with the CAB file??? I tried to get this on my HTC 2125 and cannot see it on my device. I can see it in explore on Activesync but I cannot see it on the phone. Any assistance here would be great."

You will need to tap on the cab file on your smartphone to actually install the program. There is a guide I found that explains how to setup the device and it has screenshots too

Live Search Mobile is a great program and it is free too, very nice.
I too liked the theme used in this video. I just found it. Check out - http://www.kooldezine.com/Q.htm

I too, would like to know what theme that is on the blackjack. It looks slick. Any ideas?
Only USA? why not other small poor countries, like Costa Rica...
The Search capabilities definitely take this a step up from Virtual Earth Mobile.
Ok, just one question. What theme is that on the Blackjack???
I guess we know now why PocketStreets is not on the MS Streets & Trips 2007 CD. :)
Too bad there are no traffic coverage for Dallas!!!

WTF Houston, but no Dallas?
Tested out the GPS functionality, looks to be pretty solid.
Johnathon. Find the cab file with File Explorer and select it. The install will proceed. Then you'll see the application listed only as "Search". It's quite good.

Anyone else think the "BETA" download site is a bit plan? I guess its optimized for access via. smart-phones, but you would think they would have a full Browser version of the site as well. :) BETA... tamata, tomato...
Nice... Love the Traffic report map - would be nice to have a simple text version of traffic problems as well.

I use a HP HW6515 (For now) and wonder how the GPS feature works with this, I will play a bit more later.
wow !
Not too shabby. I was able to play around with it this morning on my train to work. I will put it to the NYC torture test some more later. :)
Microsoft got this one right!
Not bad I was able to view my block in Lexington, Missouri (had to start at Kansas City and scroll east)but was unable to get traffic info for Kansas City. That would have been nice with the snow strom we have coming in.
Wow...that is a pheonomenal program!
