WMExperts First Impressions of the Xperia X1

The guys over at WMExperts have managed to get their hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

They say "Let us tell you - the hardware is simply top notch. It's a decent weight, not too heavy, and feels remarkably thin for all the power they've got under the hood. Sony Ericsson also made a good decision by making this phone not feel too “wide”, it's less wide than a BlackJack II, in fact. Overall this might be the best hardware ever seen on a Windows Mobile device".

...and those thoughts are just the start of it. Their first impressions of the Xperia X1's hardware, details on the development and innards of the X1 from their chat with Martin Winkler, Director of Global Marketing for Sony Ericsson, and full gallery of hands-on photos.

Watching all the news about the X1, I cannot find anything what could beat it, even not the TyTn II. It is an all-in-one. Where ever available I will get it... instead of the Ipaq 69xx
I'm not feelin that button design but the rest of is seems pretty nice. Until Sony gets this thing working (not buggy) and in production I'll hold off on any real thoughts. But it could be a great push forward as far as hardware goes for WM devices.
I think this device will be the 'ultimate' WinMo device once it releases.

It's got everything: Looks, features as well as functionality! Seems like a winner to me!
I like the concept of "virtual today screens" as proposed by the panel interface. If done correctly, you can have access to a ton of different information at the touch. What is also cool is that each information panel is shown in real time so a clock with large enough font or whatever can be seen without expanding the panel.

A couple of quotes that caught my eye:

"According to the folks at Sony Ericsson, the battery life is supposed to be stupendous (think over 6 hours of talk time or browsing time),"

"As far as Windows Mobile's performance goes, it's as snappy as I've seen."
Yeah if you read the full story its still in beta and still buggy as hell, will it ever work, mmm who knows
I'm still on the fence with this one. Although I do like how the form factor is smaller than the BJ.

Dave may be right on this one, that Panels software just seems like a huge PIA.
